Are You 1 Of The 13 Million Americans Who Are Currently Suffering From Gout Problems?

Please Be 100% Honest – Check All The Questions Where Your Answer Is A “YES”

Did you ever wake up in the middle of the night with sudden pain in your joint or toe?

Have your doctor ever told you that you might potentially be a gout suffer?

Are you on any dietary restrictions to avoid your next gout flare?

Are you currently prescribed with Allopurniol to control your gout issues?

If you’ve answered “YES” to any of the questions above, we got good news for you. In fact, this may drastically change your life and become your lifesavers, so read every word on this page.

4 Shocking Myths That Gout Suffers Are Clueless About Which Led The The Biggest Health Breakthrough To Seize Gout Flares

Can you remember your first gout flare?

We’re sure you do. It’s pretty unforgettable, unfortunately.

We know you also remember the confusion that came right after, trying to find answers.

To top it all, the dread you felt when you saw, on every possible website out there, or heard from every single doctor:

“Gout Is Incurable!”

Then, you start to put on a restrict diet and ditched your favorite drinks and food just to avoid the gout flare from happening again.

In fact, you might also be prescribed with Allopurniol by your doctor which now your life depends on it to ensure you eliminate your gout pain and flare.

However, ’till this day, rarely anyone have challenged if these are the RIGHT approaches for gout suffers…

…and if we take a deeper dive into the common beliefs about gout with Sherlock Holmes detective style, we’ve discovered 4 shocking myths that gout suffers are blind-folded about. It even led us to finding a breakthrough to eliminate the struggle for anyone who has gout.

But first, let’s start with myth busters first:

Myth Buster #1

Hyperuricemia & Gout Only Affect Men Over 50 Years Old

According to Egyptian records, compared to other medical conditions, hyperuricemia and gout specifically were discovered AND documented more than 4,000 years ago.

However, an advanced analysis of it, its symptoms, and its causes started ONLY in the 5th century BC when Hippocrates referred to it as the “unwalkable disease.”

And it was the physician Aretaeus of Cappadocia who captured the essence of gout two thousand years ago:

“Pain seizes the great toe, then the forepart of the heel on which we rest; next it comes into the arch of the foot…the ankle joint swells last of all…no other pain is more severe than this, not iron screws, nor cords, not the wound of a dagger, nor burning fire….”

A painful description that’s still true to this day.

So, if gout was discovered and intensively analyzed for almost 2,500 years, why does the myth of it affecting only men after 50 still exist?

Well, to be honest, if you look at history, you’ll see that our ancestors had lower life expectancies. And while that is true, most reports take out the fact that many children died at birth or within their first five years of life.

So, if we were to take that demographic out…

No, the life expectancy didn’t increase too much, unfortunately.

For example, 2,000 years ago:

  • Ancient Greece’s life expectancy was of 37.5 years
  • Ancient Rome’s life expectancy was of 40 years
  • For China, the number stood at 35 years

So, looking at these numbers, it is only normal to assume that gout is “an old man’s disease.”

Especially since uric acid takes, on average, between 10 and 20 years to build up and form crystals that have the potential to trigger gout attacks, at least we thought so…

However… there is another aspect that needs to be analyzed regarding gout and age from a historical reference.

Even if they lived long enough, were all “old” ancestors affected by gout?

The answer is a definitive NO!

This leads us to the second myth about gout:

Myth Buster #2

Gout Is The Rich Man’s Disease!

Well, now, historically speaking, this might have been the case for centuries, even millennia.

But during the past 200 years, and especially in the 21st century (a.k.a. now), this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Because honestly, it’s not the rich getting affected by gout anymore. It’s the middle and lower-class population that has the highest gout prevalence.

However, we don’t want you to take my word for granted. Instead, we want you to understand why that is and what’s changed in the past 200 years to create this shift.

For the past 100 years, the dietary lifestyle of the average American has been heavily influenced by shady marketing practices and business opportunities.

Companies have leveraged our desire to save time (the one currency we can never get back), and the food industry has sneakily introduced us to fast food.

I’m not going to list all the medical reasons why this is a plague to society; you are well aware of them.

And I’m not going to lecture you about your dietary choices either. To each its own.

However, I want you to understand a few connections between the fast food we love so much and an increase in gout prevalence.

  • Meat has become available and often cheap. Everyone has easy access to it, and almost everyone can afford it, especially burgers and nuggets.
  • Most foods contain cornstarch or high-fructose corn syrup as a sweetener alternative to glucose.
  • Almost every single fast food meal comes with a drink.

So, let’s put these together:

  • Red meat is a high-purine food — a direct cause of hyperuricemia and gout.
  • Fructose is the no. 1 non-purine element directly linked to an increase in gout attacks.

Every time you have a drink that’s not water, your body cancels its natural thirst reaction. So the direct consequence is you not drinking enough water to help your kidneys break down and eliminate urates. The second level consequence of that… you guessed it: they crystalize in your joints.

So, should you quit eating fast food?

The answer is no. Not at all.

But… Is it making sense why gout is no longer a rich man’s disease?

I reasonably believe it does… Because rich people don’t eat that much fast food. They can afford clean diets with organic ingredients! … and also a chef to cook it all…

Still… if you think that I’m going to say to you, “stop eating fast food,”… You’d be wrong. People all over the world are eating fast food, and they have absolutely ZERO problems from hyperuricemia or gout.

And that’s because the third myth I’m going to bust for you is…

Myth Buster #3

Gout Is Caused By Foods High in Purines

Is it? Yes!

But that’s not an absolute fact.

Because… surprise, surprise… we still haven’t figured out yet how our bodies fully function and what all the connections are to make such a statement.

Not only that, but when we were researching this a few weeks ago, we found what we believe to be the best breakdown of what is, what causes, and how gout can be managed on a site called Medscape.

If you don’t know what that is, it’s one of the few US Healthcare websites out there dedicated to providing insight and knowledge to registered nurses by sharing exclusive, up-to-date research and findings from all over the world.

No, as an average human, you don’t get access to everything in their database. But with our Registered Nurse in our team, we were able to find more than we could have ever dreamed of.

However…

This breakdown article is available, and there’s a link at the bottom of the page that you can access yourself.

But before you do…

Here’s what they have to say about it.

Three leading pathophysiologic causes lead to hyperuricemia:

  • Uric Acid Underexcretion
  • Ulric Acid Overproduction
  • Combined Causes

Now… this might not be news to you, but there’s more.

Each of these three categories includes different culprits:

For underexcretion, you have 13 different causes that lead to hyperuricemia, some involving genetics, some the metabolic syndrome that we already know is not a condition in itself, but a cumulus of different diseases and prevalent factors influencing your metabolism.

For overproduction, Medscape mentions eight different causes, from Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome to exposure to organochlorine pesticides.

And for combined causes, there are an extra five different triggers listed.

And this breakdown of theirs is JUST a summary of the most common causes in each of the three categories that lead to hyperuricemia and gout.

There are 26 different causes listed in total.

Only ONE of them is a high-purine diet. And it’s linked to the overproduction of uric acid crystals.

So… should we keep going?

We don’t think so because this, right here, is proof enough that foods high in purines are not always to blame for hyperuricemia and gout.

Now, let’s bust the 4th and final myth about gout… probably the most important of them all…

Myth Buster #4

If You Have Gout, You Need To Take Allopurinol Your ENTIRE Life! And It’s Safe For Your Body!

Before we tell you anything else… we want you to look at the screenshot we took just a few days ago:

Isn’t that quite interesting?

The first link belongs to the UK’s National Health Service website, and it leads to the official guidelines page for gout and hyperuricemia.

The second link belongs to a group of doctors who have chosen to create a retrospective cohort study for people diagnosed with gout in 1993 and who died no later than 1999 to see the link between mortality and their allopurinol dosage during their last years of life.

If it were us… we’d run away from allopurniol and start eating lettuce, just to make sure I never get a gout attack.

We WOULD take that deal.

And we’d be doing a great job at keeping our promise… Until we’d see the first juicy steak.

We’re human! We’re not a robot!

And you’re not one either!

So we know there’s no way you can go off allopurniol or refuse to get it when you’re flaring up, feeling the worst pain in your life!

However, there are constant side effects to all artificially created treatments.

Many of these are seen only years after their development and FDA approval.

Because yes, it takes years and even decades to analyze the long-term effect of any drug.

And that’s related to our bodies’ inability to metabolize artificial substances. Your body was not created for synthetic substances!

It was, however, perfectly crafted to metabolize natural substances and receive the support it needs from your diet to function correctly.

And that… that is the ONLY reason why countries like Japan are known for:

  • The longest life-span in the world (Check the region of Okinawa, currently holding the world record for people over 100 years old)
  • The lowest rate of death for almost all causes (getting beaten only by France in cardiovascular diseases – because we all know the French have those magic polyphenols in their natural wines, so they hold the upper hand)
  • The lowest rate of obesity in the world

And finally, the LOWEST RATE of Gout and Hyperuricemia prevalence in the world!
So…

How do they do it?

How Is Japan Avoiding a High-Gout Incidence While Consuming High-Purine Foods?

The answer is staring them in the face almost every time they eat something.

And it’s no surprise there.

Their diet is rich and tasty and filled with flavors!

Those flavors… The spices they’re using… Most of them are natural substances that support the body’s metabolic process and help it maintain healthy levels of… well, almost EVERYTHING!

And this dietary style has been analyzed for centuries by their natural healers first, doctors secondly, and scientists in the past century until now.

Their findings sometimes might look “miraculous.”

There’s no such thing!

It’s just pure historical and scientific evidence that when we turn to the resources Mother Earth provides us with, we can maintain our health, youth, and vibrancy…

All while living life FREE OF PAIN!

Luckily, some of these studies have crossed Japan’s borders and sparked doctors’ interest worldwide.

And I’m talking about specialists here who dedicate their lives to learning the ins and outs of a single condition to find a way to beat it, beat its symptoms, and improve the lives of those affected by it.

We’re not talking about General Practitioners who are forced to know a bit about everything.

Their role is to redirect a patient to specialists.

Unfortunately, most of them suffer from an “ego” complex and think they can solve it all.

The truth: no, they cannot!

So, with the help of a few renowned doctors, the truth about Japan’s low gout rate is finally getting released to the world.

All thanks to a few plants…

You already know some of them, and they play a massive role in reducing the body’s risk of developing hyperuricemia and gout!

But some of them… you probably never heard of!

Until today!

So let’s review them and how they can help you break free from the pain brought by gout!

However… to do that, we need to look at gout from three perspectives:

  • Symptoms
  • Treatment
  • Prevention

Because each of the plants listed below plays a vital role in each of these phases, allowing you to make the most of them all, no matter where you are in your gout struggles!

The first ones address what matters most to you: eliminating the causes of gout pain during a flare. And doing that fast, because there’s nothing worse than the crippling sensation you get…

Which, to be honest…

It puts your life on hold!

So, here they are:

14 Plant-Based, All-Natural Antioxidants That Are Proven To Fight Against Gout That Rarely Anyone Knows

#1 – Corydalis Turtschaninovii

So far, the only natural socially-accepted natural remedy or ailment of gout flares is colchicine. Derived from autumn crocus and glory lily, it’s been used for thousands of years.

However, the power of Corydalis Turtschaninovii has been scientifically and historically proven to be higher than that of colchicine.

The reason behind this is that while colchicine acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory remedy, working its magic during several days of efficient treatment, Corydalis’s mechanism is different.

The active substance from the Corydalis plant is an alkaloid called DL-THP (DL-tetrahydropalmatine), and its primary ability is to BLOCK the sensation of pain by acting on different receptors in the brain.

This means…that while the inflammation triggered by uric acid crystals still exists, the sensation of pain is almost completely gone.

However, it doesn’t stop here. Because getting rid of the pain as fast as possible is only the first step in managing gout flares.

And reducing inflammation is still required to recover from a flare.

And Corydalis Turtschaninovii helps again, along with the other plants listed below.

Another active compound extracted from it, dehydrocorybulbine (DHCB), actively works on inflammation, helping the body reduce it naturally, causing swelling, redness, and pain to decrease as well.

And while the rood of Corydalis has been used for thousands of years, it was only in 2014 that DHCB was identified, after a study that joined teams of scientists from China and the US. The study analyzed over 500 derivatives from plants that might help with pain, but only Corydalis’ DHCB showed an effect that could be replicated over and over again!

The best part? It does not trigger any addiction!

“A compound derived from a traditional Chinese herbal medicine has been found effective at alleviating pain, pointing the way to a new nonaddictive analgesic for acute inflammatory and nerve pain, according to UC Irvine pharmacology researchers.” [1]

One study analyzing analgesic effects even on spinal injury patients has proven its efficacy over other naturally-derived remedies and even some NSAIDs. [2]

To top it all, it has been clinically proven that an extract of DL-THP and CHBC could reduce pain and pain bothersomeness after only one oral administration of a pill containing it in a controlled clinical trial. [3]

The conclusion of these three studies listed here, and every other research out there is that these two substances, both of them extracted from Corydalis Turtschaninovii, can significantly reduce pain after only one dose, improving the overall tonus and life of the sufferer, in less than 2-3 hours after administration.

However, getting instant pain relief is not enough to escape the shackles of gout.

And the following three plants that act similarly to the famous colchicine support the instant effects of Corydalis.

#2 – Angelica Dahurica

There is no surprise Angelica Dahurica made the list because it holds the same CHCB active substance.

However, beyond that, this herb produces a strong antioxidant effect in the body, blocking damage to joints, and it has been already used in over 12 patented formulations for treating gout and rheumatoid arthritis.

Its uses have been known worldwide for thousands of years, the areal of Angelica Dahurica covering most of the Northern Hemisphere!

Multiple studies have showcased its ability to reduce pain fast (and since 2014, we know it is because of DHCB). Still, besides this, a review of over 70 phytotherapy of gout studies, published in 2013, showcased Angelica Dahurica as one of the main herbs with analgesic effects and the ability to reduce hyperuricemia. [4]

In fact, if you search the NCBI Database, you will find over 180 studies that relate Angelica dahurica and gout, with positive results. [5]

#3 – Nepeta Tenuifolia

Mostly known for its aromatic properties, Nepeta Tenuifolia is one of the few herbs out there that you can find in comparative studies that analyze the effects of allopurinol compared to natural alternatives. [6]

Its properties are mentioned and analyzed in over 21 studies that include gout and rheumatoid arthritis and pain induced by pneumonia, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and severe clonic epilepsy.

The most recent study analyzing Nepeta Tenuifolia’s interaction with gout showcases its ability to interact with the NLRP3 inflammasome during inflammatory activation of THP-1 cells, reducing the high inflammation caused by the release of uric acid crystals within the joint. [7]

However, you’ve probably seen it and treated it as “green”. According to some, it doesn’t stand out, it’s invasive, but its potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant properties help provide extremely rapid pain relief, something much needed by gout patients.

And, on top of that, these properties offer the support your body needs for long-term hyperuricemia and joint health recovery, making it a faithful ally in long-term gout management. [8]

#4 – Dipsacus Asper

If you’ve done your own research, Dipsacus Asper might be one of the natural gout remedies you’ve come across.

It’s not a surprise.

The antioxidant activities of the phenolic derivatives extracted from Dipsacus Asper have been clinically proven to help reduce the production of monosodium urate crystals, relieving the body from uric acid overproduction due to health conditions and dietary preferences. [9]

At the same time, countless studies have been performed on the overall anti-oxidative effects of steroids that lead to anti-inflammatory and analgesic responses in the human body.

Secondary benefits of Dipsacus Asper have been found, by increasing the metabolization process of LDL, thus contributing to the body’s natural tendency of lowering LDL levels, especially in patients suffering from high cholesterol. [10]

However, the most critical aspect of Dipsacus asper is that it provides support for kidney and liver processes, the main organs involved in the metabolic process, and uric acid production.

Maintaining them as healthy as possible, especially in a high-protein and high-purine food diet is mandatory to balance the production of monosodium urate crystals and to help expedite their elimination instead of them being deposited in joint cartilage. [11, 12]

However, it doesn’t end here.

Because, as I mentioned before, there are numerous other plants that not only address the acute symptoms of gouts: pain and inflammation, but also the processes that lead to the buildup of uric acid crystals in your joints.

The following help by supporting the body dissolve the already deposited crystals and reduce the possibility of their re-creation by maintaining low levels of monosodium urate in your body:

#5 – Vincetoxicum Pycnostelma

While the name might be hard to pronounce, it could be even harder to find resources about it. This traditional Eastern-Asian plant is one of the few out there for which medical patents that include it have been registered for the management of pain in patients suffering from gout and arthritis.[13]

Used for millennia in traditional Chinese medicine, this is one of the most popular pain treatments for rheumatoid arthritis. [14]

The mechanism behind it is similar to colchicine because of its high antioxidant capacity.

However, studies have proven it is also an effective herb in preventing hyperuricemia by acting as a natural xanthine oxidase inhibitor. Its properties allow it to interfere with the metabolic events triggered by xanthine oxidase, thus reducing the uric acid levels in your body. [15]

It’s been traditionally used against pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis.

#6 – Sargentodoxa Cuneata

This is one of the most peculiar herbs you can ever encounter. Its entire genus (Sargentodoxa) consists of only one plant, Sargentodoxa Cuneata.

However, this somewhat rare plant has been traditionally used in Chinese medicine as a remedy for rheumatoid arthritis due to its powerful antioxidant properties.

All of it is thanks to the plant’s stem, which contains salidroside, chlorogenic acid, and liriodendrin, substances shown to act as antioxidants [16, 17], anti-inflammatory [18], and antithrombotic [19].

While the first two properties might make sense, the antithrombotic aspect of it might surprise you.

In all honesty, it shouldn’t. Because unfortunately, gout patients of any age have a 25% greater risk of developing a blood clot in their veins within ten years of their diagnosis.

However, the risk you face increases to 79% if you haven’t celebrated your 50th anniversary and have been diagnosed with gout already. [20]

So while Sargentodoxa Cuneata brings its direct benefit to managing a gout flare by helping the body naturally reduce inflammation and pain, its long-term, completely safe use can help your body prevent thrombosis complications caused by gout.

#7 – Morus Alba

You are probably surprised Morus Alba wasn’t higher on this list due to its popularity as a natural remedy for gout.

Because its benefits have been showcased for thousands of years…

It is why Morus Alba has been included in the “Divine Farmer’s Materia Medica” (pinyin: Shénnóng Běncǎo Jīng) written during the reign of the Han dynasty. [21]

Furthermore, several traditional Chinese preparations utilize the branch of Morus alba to treat gout, arthritis, and rheumatism [22].

Various drug constituents were found to have significant antihyperuricemic potential, including mulberroside A, a stilbene glycoside [23], and several flavonoids, primarily morin [24, 25].

And it’s linked directly to the fact that fructose is one of the non-purines that trigger gout attacks. This herb kicks in by modifying the breakdown and assimilation of carbohydrates in the body.

It helps regulate metabolic processes for the liver and kidneys to filter monosodium urate instead of forcefully metabolizing a high carb intake, most of which is derived from fructose and corn-starch. [26]

You could call it your junk-food pass if you want.

Because several studies have analyzed its potential benefits in the link between Type 2 Diabetes and Hyperuricemia.

One showcased evidence that hyperuricemia, metabolic syndrome, and type II diabetes share the same causal origin in which insulin resistance would play a key role. [27]

All of this not only allows you to pass through a gout flare with flying colors, but it also gives your body the support it needs to maintain your uric acid low, preventing another gout attack.

#8 – Tinospora Sinensis

When scientists first heard of Tinospora Sinensis, it was through an old, traditional Tibetan medicine, called TongFengTangSan (TFTs), that contained it, along Terminalia chebula Trogopterori used to treat joint conditions like gout, gouty arthritis, swelling, and pain.

Its therapeutic effects have been demonstrated for centuries. But as with many herbal remedies, no one knew how it worked. So they proceeded to analyze it.[28]

They discovered that the extract contained 13 active substances they could use to test for anti-hyperuricemic effects. Every single test they conducted showed positive results.

Another study proved that the anti-inflammatory activity of isolated diosgenin from Tinospora Sinensis was stronger than that of indomethacin.[29]

And a third review study showed that Tinospora Sinensis had results that surpassed Colchicine’s in the inflammation and pain management during gout flares. [30]

Unfortunately… We are still a long way from any of these plants receiving the recognition and approval they deserve at a national level.

Just like the next one:

#9 – Glycyrrhiza Glabra

Another one you may have heard of, but in a different context, however.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra is one of the most potent herbs used in balancing metabolic processes. It helps the body reduce blood sugar levels, acting as a natural anti-diabetic agent for people living with type 2 diabetes. [31]

At the same time, it’s a fat-burning promoter, being successfully used in speeding up weight loss.

However, while these features make Glycyrrhiza Glabra worthy of making the cut on our list, its natural ability to inhibit Xanthine Oxidase’s action was what drove us to showcase it.

Yes, a study lists it as a less powerful ingredient to lower uric acid than allopurniol, showing that it had 50% of allopurniol’s effects. [32]

What’s not hyped in the study, though… is that the concentration used for Glycyrrhiza Glabra was lower than that of allopurniol. And that… compared to allopurniol, it has no side effects.

And another interesting fact… Glycyrrhiza Glabra is what is known worldwide as licorice.

Yes… you read that right.

And there is no doubt you know where to get it from!

Because it’s been staring you in the face your entire life.

Unlike the next plant, though…

#10 – Sarcandra Glabra

Yes, the name sounds familiar, but it has nothing to do with licorice. Instead, Sarcandra Glabra is an aromatic herb commonly found in South-East Asia.

The interesting aspect about it is that among the phenolics it contains, one stands out.

It’s called astilbin.

And while there are countless studies conducted on its antioxidative effects, one stood out among all others.

It is a private study conducted by a German company.

It’s one of the many sustained privately by it, all of them supporting the inclusion of astilbin in gout and rheumatoid arthritis treatment protocols.

Here is an excerpt of their abstract:

“The results demonstrated that astilbin significantly decreased the serum uric acid (Sur) level by increasing the urinary uric acid (Uur) level and fractional excretion of urate (FEUA) but not inhibiting the xanthine oxidase (XOD) activity. In addition, kidney function parameters such as serum creatinine (Scr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) were recovered in astilbin-treated hyperuricemic rats. Further investigation indicated that astilbin prevented the renal damage against the expression of transforming growth factor- β1 (TGF-β1) and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and also exerted a renal protective role by inhibiting the formation of monosodium urate (MSU) and production of prostaglandin E₂ (PGE₂) and interleukin-1 (IL-1). These findings provide potent evidence for astilbin as a safe and promising lead compound in the development of a disease-modifying drug to prevent hyperuricemia and nephropathy.”

Now, you won’t find these studies on the first page of any search engine you might use… Because they are not meant for your eyes, they’re deeply buried within websites (because companies are still mandated to make these studies public).

But we’ve listed the source below so that you can check for yourself. [33]

Before you do that, though…

There are just a few more plants you need to learn about that will help you surpass the struggles and pain of a gout flare and keep another one at bay without making any changes in your diet.

#11 – Phragmites Australis

It’s one of the most potent antioxidants given to us by Mother Nature. And it’s been proven to act as a natural cleansing agent, promoting the optimal function of your kidneys.

This helps your body by allowing uric acid to be eliminated, eliminating the risk of underexcretion, which affects a third of hyperuricemic patients, leading to gout. [34]

It’s simple: if uric acid gets eliminated, the monosodium urate crystals don’t form and deposit in your joints. Regular use of it has been proven to reduce the risk of gout flares, minimizing the frequency and intensity of attacks. [35]

#12 – Saposhnikovia Divaricata

Don’t get steered away by its name. The anti-hyperuricemic potential of Saposhnikovia Divaricata has been extensively researched, including in a 2019 study that analyzed its efficacy as an antihyperuricemic agent and the adverse side effects it can pose.

At an astounding level of 5,000 mg (kg/day) for 13 weeks, zero side effects were noticed.

And the results?

“SRE had anti-hyperuricemia effect and lowered the excessive level of uric acid, a potential factor for gout and kidney failure.” [36]

And right before that, a randomized control trial that included Saposhnikovia Divaricata, a positive control (containing allopurinol as the antihyperuricemic agent), and a control (etoricoxib) group was performed.

These are the scientist’s conclusions:

“After eight weeks of treatment, the mixture decreased serum uric acid levels more than allopurinol (P < 0.05) and reduced levels of CCL2 and CXCL8 protein significantly more than in the allopurinol and control groups. Conclusions. The therapeutic actions of the mixture inhibit the expression of proteins CCL2 and CXCL8 in plasma and upregulate the expressions of three miRNAs (miR-486-5p, miR-339-5p, and miR-361-5p).”

However… you probably haven’t heard of it until now, unfortunately, and are still stuck on allo…

Unlike the final two plants on our list…

#13 – Sambucus Chinensis

The name is familiar. And that’s because you have heard of elderberries’ antioxidant properties. But, while the ones you’re used to belonging to the Canadensis plant of the Sambucus genus, its sister is not far away when it comes to health benefits.

Sambucus Chinensis has been used for its anti-inflammatory purposes for centuries in China and Malaysia, where it is widely spread.

It was even included in the Essential Guide of the Herb Society of America for its properties.

Concerning gout, it is a solid proponent for prevention, as it can regulate the body’s metabolic processes, sporting the efficient elimination of uric acid from your body. [37]

#14 – Panax Notoginseng

Yes, this powerhouse of a plant is included in our list.

And while you might think it is due to its antioxidative effects, it’s actually the saponins that brought our attention to it.

A 2010 randomized control trial on chronic renal failure patients even concluded:

“Panax Notoginseng has a good therapeutic effect for the treatment of CRF (non-uremic). It possesses such therapeutic effects as improving the renal function, and lowering urine protein.” [38]

And just this year, The Food and Agricultural Immunology Journal published a study that shows preclinical and clinical evidence of Red Ginseng extracts as an adjunctive therapy for gout, stating:

“Patients taking RGT for three months showed significantly reduced NLRP3 expression compared to baseline. In conclusion, RGE suppressed acute gout inflammation by suppressing NLRP3 inflammasomes in animal models. Clinically, RGT suppressed NLRP3 expression in gout patients. The data suggest that red ginseng may exert an additive benefit in gout treatment.” [39]

ll while being declared completely safe even by a study conducted at the Winton Hill Technical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, even back in 2000 (when they mentioned its documented and historically proven used and beneficial effects for gout sufferers). [40]

So you see…

You have here over 35 different references that show you clear as day how the plants, herbs, sometimes the weeds that surround us have the ability to keep us healthy, active, and pain-free.

You have studies that give you the exact sources and quantities of each active substance and where to get them.

Some are easier to find, due to their popularity!

Some, however… might prove challenging to get your hands on.

And just the hassle of ordering, organizing, and scheduling 14 different supplements might prove harder than just giving up and relying on a doctor’s prescription.

It’s precisely why we’ve chosen to work hard for the past two years and create a unique formula that, based on all these resources and more, has been clinically tested and proven to…

Personal Capital Review and User’s Guide (Update for 2021)

Personal Capital is a financial tool that enables you to manage 100% of your finances from a single dashboard. I’ve used the app for years. In this Personal Capital review and user’s guide, I’ll walk through all of its features and how to leverage them to help you make the most of your money.

Getting Started with Personal Capital

The first step is to sign up for a free account. Then you want to connect all of your financial accounts. While Personal Capital is perhaps best known for analyzing and tracking investments, I also connect all of my bank accounts, credit cards, loans, mortgage, and even my home. You can add your home and Personal Capital will pull in the value from Zillow.

Get Personal Capital for Free

Linking Your Accounts

Over the years I’ve linked may of the following types of accounts to Personal Capital:

  • Bank Accounts (checking, savings, CDs, money market accounts)
  • Retirement Accounts (401k, 403b, TSP, IRA, among others)
  • Non-Retirement Investment Accounts
  • HSA
  • Credit Cards
  • Mortgage
  • Student Loans
  • Personal Loans

You can link just about any financial account for which you have online access. You’ll need your username and password for each account. To link an account, you’ll search for the name of your financial institution in the “Link Your Account” dialog box on Personal Capital (you get to it by clicking the “+” icon near the top left of the Dashboard):

Tip: You can search by the name of your financial institution or by its website address (url). In the unlikely event you have a financial account that can’t be linked to Personal Capital, you can enter it manually.

So why bother to connect all of your accounts? As you’ll see below, Personal Capital does a lot more than keep an eye on your investments. By connecting all of your financial accounts, you can track your net worth, budget, cash flow and even your bills. And all of this information is pulled together in a Dashboard.

Settings & Profile

Once you’ve linked your accounts, it’s critical that you complete your Settings and Profile. Both can be found by clicking on your name in the top right corner of the screen.

With Settings, you have control over email subscriptions (you can get daily or weekly updates of all your income, spending and investments), whether to include investment income and dividends in cash flow (I do), and any accounts to exclude from the advice Personal Capital offers (I don’t exclude any).

Settings also include important security features. It’s here that you can configure multi-factor authentication (highly recommended) and an alert anytime a login is attempted from a foreign country (also highly recommended).

Personal Capital also shows you a list of the devices you’ve authorized to access your account and when the last sign-on from that device occurred. I’ll often delete old devices I no longer use from this list.

The Profile is where you can set information about you and your spouse, your savings, income sources, and investment objectives. These are important settings that Personal Capital uses in its planning tools, such as its free Retirement Planner.

Dashboard

Once you’ve linked all of your accounts, Personal Capital aggregates it in the Dashboard. The Dashboard gives you a snapshot of your entire financial picture. Here’s what the dashboard looks like:

As you can see, it gives you a snapshot of your net worth, your monthly budget, your cash flow, your investments, and even where you are on your retirement and emergency savings goals.

Net Worth

There’s nothing more important to your financial freedom than racking your net worth. While I’m a big believer in keeping tabs on it in a spreadsheet (which I’ve done for years), I also track it in Personal Capital. If you connect all of your financial accounts, it’s tracked automatically.

Here’s what the Net Worth screen looks like in Personal Capital:

Personal Capital Banking

I’m surprised at how much I use the banking features of Personal Capital. The primary features that I rely on are the Cash Flow and Budgeting functions. Specifically, the tool shows me how much investment income we generate each month (interest and dividends). The budget tool shows me how much we spent and on what by category.

Cash Flow

Cash flow shows both your income and expenses at a transaction level. Expenses are automatically categorized. You can easily drill down into income or expenses to look at the details.

You can also select which accounts to include in the report. I use this account selection feature to look at just my business expenses (I’ve connected by business checking and credit card accounts). I also use it to look at income just from my investment accounts. This allows me to quickly see all dividends and interest earned in my portfolio.

Budgeting

The budgeting feature is not a traditional budgeting app. You can set an overall monthly spending goal, but you can’t set goals by category. If that’s what you need, I highly recommend YNAB (You Need a Budget).

What Personal Capital does well is give you visibility into how you’ve spent your money by category. It automatically imports all spending from each linked account and categorizes the spending. You can customize the categories. I’ve found Personal Capital to do a reasonably good job of getting the categories right, although I do spend about 5 minutes a month correcting some transactions.

Tip: In addition to categories, you can tag transactions, too. I use a limited number of categories, and than tag transactions as needed. For example, we have a home maintenance category. For work on our pool, I tag those transactions as “pool” so I can see how much we spend on the pool without need to create a separate categori.

Bills

The bills feature is another reason to link your credit cards, mortgage, and other loans. Personal Capital keeps track of when bills are due with your linked accounts. This helps you avoid missed or late payments, and it helps with planning throughout the month.

Personal Capital Investing

Here’s where Personal Capital really shines. Once you’ve connected your retirement and non-retirement accounts, it tracks your investments automatically. It updates prices throughout the trading day and keeps tabs on mutual fund expenses. It also shows you your asset allocation and offers a number of tools to help you evaluate your portfolio

Holdings

You get an overview of each of your holdings. The tool shows the following for each investment you own:

  • The name of each investment
  • Its ticker
  • How many shares you own
  • The current price
  • The days change (in both dollars and as a percentage)
  • The total value

It also gives you an overview of your performance. Here’s mine in the middle of the 2020 bear market (Yikes!):

Allocation

Personal Capital also shows you your asset allocation. It automatically evaluates your investments and reports on your stock/bond allocation. For each it breaks down asset classes further, showing U.S. and International stocks and bonds, as well as alternatives.

The tool also provides a useful interactive graphic representation of your portfolio allocation. With the click of a mouse, you can explore what investments make up each of these asset classes. One interesting item is cash. The asset allocation tool not only shows you the cash in say money market accounts, but it also sees the cash held by stock mutual funds.

Tracking Bitcoin & Crypto

In big news for those who invest in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and other cryptocurrencies, Personal Capital can now track these investments. Best of all, investors do not need to grant access to their crypto wallets or turn over passwords.

Instead, investors can add a manual account in Personal Capital. For each token owned, you simply indicate the symbol, exchange and amount. Personal Capital is now able to track thousands of tokens across hundreds of exchanges.

Personal Capital Planning

So far the dashboard has simply shown you your accounts and investments from various perspectives. It’s the planning tools that really take the tool to the next level.

Retirement Planner

Personal Capital’s retirement planner is both robust and easy to use. Because you’ve connected all of your investment accounts, Personal Capital can use this data to determine your retirement readiness. The screenshot below shows you want the calculator looks like once you’ve linked your accounts.

There’s a lot going on here, so let’s break it down:

  • Profile: In the bottom right of the above screenshot is the “Edit Profile” button. It’s here that you can set your marital status, tax filing status, you and your spouse’s name and dates of birth, how much you each earn per year, and any children you have.
  • Assumptions: The “Edit Assumptions” button enables you to set an estimate of your effective tax rate, inflation rate, and your life expectancy.
  • Income Events: You can add ongoing or one-time income events. These may include your yearly savings, a planned sale of a business or other asset, pension income you’ll receive in retirement, and even an estimate of your social security.
  • Spending Goals: Spending goals can include an estimate of your yearly spending in retirement as well as one-time expenses. For example, you could include the cost of a planned vacation in retirement or the cost of a future wedding for your children.
  • Retirement Score: Your retirement score shows a percentage representing the likelihood that your money will last through retirement. According to Personal Capital, a score of 50% to 80% “suggests you are on track, but it is important to understand and acknowledge that the portfolio does deplete in a meaningful amount of the projected scenarios.” A score above 90% means “there is relatively little to worry about and, most likely, you could afford greater spending now or it will be possible to increase spending over time.”
  • Graph Views: The graph above shows the portfolio based on an analysis of thousands of potential market returns. You can also view your accounts by asset location (i.e., Taxable, Tax Deferred and Tax Free.

The Retirement Planner also enables you to create multiple scenarios and then compare them. For example, one scenario may have you retiring at a traditional age, while another one has you retiring early. In one, you may include an estimate of social security, while in another one you exclude it. You could also change the assumptions on one scenario related to your effective tax rate, future inflation, or your life expectancy.

Once you’ve created a new scenario, you can then compare them side-by-side.

Savings Planner

The Savings Planner is three tools in one: Retirement Savings, Emergency Fund Savings, and Debt Paydown. Each enables you to set and track goals.

Retirement Savings Planner

Here you can set an annual retirement savings goal. The planner tracks your actual savings throughout the year, including your contributions to retirement accounts like 401k and IRAs. It will also track any savings you have in taxable accounts.

Keep in mind that this planner and your Retirement Planner are connected. If you change your savings goal in one, it automatically updates the other.

Emergency Fund Savings Planner

For the Emergency Fund, Personal Capital totals the value of all of your linked bank accounts. It then recommends an Emergency Fund of 3 to 6 months worth of expenses based on the budget amount that you set. As with the retirement planner, any changes in your monthly budgeted amount here automatically updates your Budget in the Banking section of Personal Capital.

Debt Paydown Planner

Any debts, including car loans, mortgages and personal loans, will show up in the Debt Paydown planner. Note that credit card debt will also show up in the planner if there have been at least two interest transactions within the last 90 days. In other words, your credit cards will not show up here if you pay them off in full each month, thereby avoiding interest charges.

The planner will show each debt, along with its interest rate (APR), change in balance year to date, and current balance. It also displays a graph of the changing in debt balances in the current year.

Retirement Fee Analyzer

The retirement fee analyzer is, I must confess, my favorite part of Personal Capital. It’s easy to dismiss relatively “small” investment fees as unimportant. The problem, of course, is the effect fees have on your wealth over decades of time. A 1% advisor or mutual fund fee may seem small, but over time it can literally cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Personal Capital calculates a weighted average expense ratio for all of your linked accounts. Mine comes in at just 6 basis points–0.06%. That’s well below the average, and yet it will still cost me $17,865 over the next seven years according to the Fee Analyzer!

Fees matter–a lot. This tool by itself makes Personal Capital a must.

Try Personal Capital

Investment Fee Checkup

The investment checkup evaluates your asset allocation and compares it to what Personal Capital recommends. Based on your investment profile, Personal Capital recommends an asset allocation. Here’s what it recommends for me, given my age, years to retirement and risk tolerance:

My actual allocation has about 5% more bonds than what the above graphic shows. What’s interesting about this tool is that Personal Capital also shows you the historical performance of its recommended portfolio, future projections, risk & return and a comparison with your actual allocation.

If you want to follow the recommendation, Personal Capital provides a listing of those asset classes that need to increased, decreased and by how much.

Personal Capital FAQs

Is Personal Capital safe?
Yes. Personal Capital encrypts data with AES-256 with multi-layer key management, including rotating user-specific keys and salts. Further, no individual at Personal Capital has access to your credentials.
In addition, you must authenticate each device that accesses your account. You’ll receive an automated phone call, email or text message to confirm your identity. You can learn more about Personal Capital’s security here.

Is Personal Capital really free?
Yep. Its investment services are not, but its financial tools are completely free.

Will Personal Capital call me?
Yes. They use the financial dashboard as a marketing tool. I’ve spoken with their advisors in the past, although I’ve never used the investment services. If you don’t want them to call you, just tell them. They honored my request.

Do I have to invest with Personal Capital to use the dashboard?
No.

How much does Personal Capital cost?
The financial dashboard is free. If you do want to use their investment advisory services, the fees start at 0.89% for the first $1 million and go down to 0.49% for amounts over $10 million.

7 Best Mint Alternatives in 2021 (#1 is Free)

Mint was one of the first free online budgeting apps when it launched in 2007. Intuit purchased Mint in 2009, and today many users are looking to replace Mint with a different personal finance app. Here are the 7 best Mint alternatives worth considering.

Top Mint.com Alternative Picks

Of all the options out there to replace Mint, three stand out among the rest:

  • Personal Capital–I’ve used Personal Capital for years. It offers the most robust budgeting, cash flow, investment tracking, and financial tools of any app out there. And it’s free.
  • Tiller–For those focused on budgeting (but not investing), Tiller is my favorite budgeting app. It connects your financial accounts (banks, credit cards, and even investments) with Google Sheets. It offers a wealth of tools to analyze everything from your monthly budget to even business expenses.  You can try it free for 30 days, then it’s $79 a year.
  • YNAB–This is the Mint replacement of choice if you want a powerful budgeting tool but don’t like spreadsheets. I’ve known the founder for about a decade and used the tool for years.

Best Alternatives to Mint Budget Tracker

1. Personal Capital–Best Overall Alternative to Mint.com

Personal Capital can easily replace Mint. Like Mint it’s free, and it offers far more tools to keep track of your finances and analyze your investments. You can link just about any financial account to Personal Capital’s app. Once linked, the dashboard gives you a complete snapshot of your money.

Beyond a high level view, Personal Capital offers a number of useful features:

  • Track spending by category or account
  • Plan your retirement with the Retirement Planner
  • Understand how investment fees erode your wealth
  • Monitor your portfolio’s asset allocation
  • Track your net worth
  • Get alerts when bills are due
  • Save for emergencies
  • New: Track Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and thousands of other tokens without giving access to your crypto wallet

I’ve written a detailed review and guide of Personal Capital that you can check out.

Try Personal Capital

2. Tiller Money–Best for those who love spreadsheets

For those focused primarily on budgeting, Tiller Money is the best Mint alternative on our list. Along with Personal Capital, I use Tiller every single day. There is, however, a bit of a learning curve. But once you understand how it works, it’s a breeze to use.

In short, Tiller enables you to connect your bank accounts, credit cards and even investment accounts to a Google Sheet (or Excel). It then gives you templates and tools to do everything from create a budget to track your spending to save for retirement.

The more I use Tiller the more I appreciate the simplicity and ease of use. If you like spreadsheets, you’ll like Tiller. To get an idea of how it works, check out this video I created.

Some of Tiller’s features include:

  • Track all your accounts in one place
  • Make a budget, track spending
  • Track your net worth with flexible, automated dashboards
  • Create your own category rules so every expense is automatically categorized accurately
  • Use flexible templates for budgeting and retirement planning
  • Works with 2FA (2-Factor Authentication)

You get a 30-day free trial. After that Tiller costs $79 a year.

3. CountAbout–Best for converting data from Mint

If you have a lot of data in Mint, CountAbout may be the budgeting tool for you. It has a feature enabling you to import data from Mint. In fact, you can import your entire Mint history into CountAbout.

Unlike Mint, CountAbout doesn’t pummel you with advertisements. It does enable you to download transactions from your bank and customize both income and expense categories. You can save receipt images and attach them to the appropriate expense if record keeping is important.

Key features of CountAbout include:

  • Import from Quicken or Mint.com
  • Automate Transaction Downloads
  • Fully customizable income and spending categories and tags
  • Invoicing for small businesses
  • Attachment capability for receipts and images
  • Recurring transactions
  • Graphical and text-based “widgets” provide quick view of financial activity
  • Easy to use on web and iOS/Android apps

For the features you get, the cost is very reasonable. The basic plan costs just $9.99 a year (not a month). If you want automatic downloading of bank transactions, the cost is $39.99 a year.

4. Simplifi–Best budgeting app for smartphones

Simplifi is Quicken’s version of a mobile budgeting app. It’s not a mobile app for Quicken. It’s a new app built from the ground up. It uses automation to help you better manage your money.

For example, Simplifi can create a spending plan for you by analyzing your income and expenses. You can identify recurring expenses and subscriptions, which Simplifi then incorporates into the plan. It also includes a calendar view showing you upcoming expenses.

Key features of Simplifi include:

  • See your banking, credit card, loans and investments all in one place
  • Have your transactions automatically categorized
  • Find and track recurring bills and subscriptions so you can cancel what you no longer use
  • View upcoming bills, income, transfers, and see how they affect your balances
  • Set up custom watchlists and limits by category, payee, or tags to help stay on track
  • Set up savings goals for every milestone you are trying to reach
  • Track refunds on returned items

You can try Simplifi free for 30-days, then the cost is as low as $2.99 a month.

5. You Need a Budget (YNAB)–Best for budgeting

YNAB is ideal for those looking just for a budgeting tool. YNAB’s interface is similar to a spreadsheet. The tool makes it easy to budget by category based on the money you actually have in the bank. It’s not useful as an investment tracking app, however.

YNAB’s key features include:

  • Access to real-time information, from any device, anytime
  • Track goals
  • Excellent charts and graphs

It’s not free, however. You can try it free for 34 days. After that it costs $11.99 a month or $84 a year for the annual plan. The cost is the biggest downside to YNAB.

6. PocketSmith

PocketSmith started out as a calendar to plan upcoming income and expenses. Today, it’s a full-fledged budgeting app. You can sync your accounts with PocketSmith. Once synced, you can track your budget and you’re net worth. You can also see your income and spending in a handy calendar view.

Key features of Pocketsmith include:

  • Manage multiple income streams
  • Forecast your cashflow, including tools to help you reach FIRE (financial independence, retire early)
  • Track Airbnb earnings
  • Create and track savings goals
  • Integrates with Xero
  • Multi-currency

7. Fidelity Full View

Fidelity’s Full View is powered by eMoneyAdvisor, a tool used by financial planners. While Fidelity’s Full View doesn’t come with all of eMoneyAdvisor’s features, it’s still a robust tool, free, and available even if you don’t have an account at Fidelity.

Fidelity Full View includes the following features:

  • Consolidate accounts in one place
  • Track your net worth over time
  • Create and manage a budget
  • View transactions
  • Integrates with Fidelity’s planning tools

Other Mint Replacement Options

I’m regularly evaluating new financial tools. As I do, I’ll add them to this list to help those looking to leave Mint. Here are some of the options I’m evaluating:

  • Every Dollar: The Dave Ramsey budgeting solution. While Dave is popular with those paying off debt, this solution is one of the most expensive and it doesn’t have near the features that a tool like Personal Capital offers.
  • Banktivity: One of the few budgeting apps designed for the Mac, Banktivity is another option. One question to consider though is whether an iOS specific software is necessary today. Everything is online or in an app.
  • Unifimoney: This app is designed for high earning professionals. It combines money management tools with saving, spending and investing services.

Why Switch from Mint?

Mint continues to offer a free, solid budgeting app. There are, however, several reasons to consider an alternative.

The first is its limited investing tools. While you can track your investments in Mint, the many of the options here offer far better investing tools. Personal Capital, for example, shows a portfolio’s asset allocation, investment fees, and retirement readiness.

Second, Mint uses an advertising revenue model. The result is a user experience plastered with ads.

Mythodology

My first step in evaluating Mint alternatives was to use dozens of budgeting and investment tracking apps. I’ve used each of the tools in our list extensively, with the exception of Pocketsmith and CountAbout (I’m working on those two now). I’ve also undertaken indepth research into these and more than 25 other options.

In evaluating these apps, I focused on the following key criteria:

  • Cost
  • Ease of use
  • Mobile app availability
  • Ability to consolidate all accounts in one place
  • Budgeting tools
  • Investment tracking tools

Mint Alternatives FAQs

What is the best free alternative to Mint?
Personal Capital is the best free Mint replacement. It comes with nearly every feature Mint offers, and many additional tools. It’s particularly well suited for those who want to manage all of their money in one place, including investments.

What is the best option to migrate Mint data to new app?
If you want to migrate Mint data to a new budgeting app, CountAbout is a solid option. It has features enabling users to migrate data from Mint.

What is the best Mint replacement for calendar budgeting?
PocketSmith is a good choice as it offers a calendar view of your budget.

Which Mint alternatives allow you to schedule bill payments?
With both Tiller Money and YNAB, you can plan future bill payments. Tiller offers a Bill Payment Tracker template and YNAB enables you to allocate funds to bills you plan to pay in the future.

Should I switch from Mint.com?
Mint continues to offer a solid budgeting and investment tracking app. Some, however, have complained about issues connecting Mint to banks and other financial institutions. It also uses an advertising revenue model, so users are inundated with ads.

Whatever tool you choose, the key is to pick one that works for you. For me, that’s Personal Capital. One or more of the above Mint alternatives, however, should suit the needs of most looking to better manage their money.

11 Best Quicken Alternatives in 2021(#1 is Free)

Quicken was once the go-to budgeting tool. I used it when it was first released in the 1980s. Today, it’s been eclipsed by apps that enable you to manage every aspect of your finances, often for free. Here are the best Quicken alternatives to consider in 2021.

Editor’s Top Picks

Of all the options out there to replace Quicken (and Mint for that matter), three stand out among the rest:

  1. Personal Capital–It’s both free and comes with the a robust set of features unmatched by other alternatives. It easily handles budgeting, net worth, cash flow, retirement investments and taxable investments. It also comes with excellent tools, including a retirement calculator, investment fee analyzer and investment portfolio analyzer. Personal Capital can now even track Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and thousands of other tokens. It’s the tool I use every day.
  2. Tiller–If you are a diehard spreadsheet fanatic, Tiller is the answer. It integrates with Google Sheets and can connect your bank accounts and credit cards. It also offers daily email updates to track your spending. You can try it free for 30 days, then it’s $79 a year.
  3. YNAB (You Need a Budget): For those who want to focus exclusively on budgeting (no investments), then YNAB is an ideal choice. It does budgeting as well as any app available today, and its community is second to none.

Top Quicken Alternatives

1. Personal Capital–Editor’s Choice

Personal Capital is the clear winner when it comes to finding a substitute for Quicken. It’s free and it offers tools to manage every aspect of your finances. With Personal Capital, you can link just about every financial account you have–checking, savings, credit cards, retirement accounts, investments accounts, HSAs, and even your home (via Zillow).

Once linked, Personal Capital’s financial dashboard offers valuable insights into your finances. As an example, the tool enables you to–

  • Track your spending by category
  • Estimate when you can retire
  • Calculate the cost of your investments
  • Display the asset allocation of your portfolio
  • Generate a net worth statement
  • Get alerts when bills are due
  • Evaluate your investment portfolio
  • Save for emergencies
  • New: Track Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and thousands of other tokens without giving access to your crypto wallet.

I’ve used Personal Capital for years. It’s the only option that in my opinion can handle every aspect of my finances, from budgeting to investing to retirement planning.

Try Personal Capital

I’ve written a detailed review and guide of Personal Capital that you can check out.

2. Tiller Money–Best Spreadsheet Budget

I don’t know how they do it, but Tiller Money has figured out how to turn a Google Sheet into a dynamic budgeting tool. You link your bank accounts and credit cards to Tiller’s Google Sheet tool, and it automatically downloads all of your transactions. From there you can create budgets, categorize spending and generate reports.

I’ve been using Tiller for several months for both my personal budget and my small business budget. It’s clear that Tiller is ideal for those who love working with spreadsheets. I will caution you that setting up Tiller can be a bit intimidating. The good news is that they have videos to walk you through each step. If I can do it, you can do it.

One thing to keep in mind is that you must manually categorize each transaction. For some, this is a show-stopper. They want the convenience of tools like Personal Capital that automate this process. For others, they would prefer to categorize transactions themselves. It forces them to look at each entry, understand how they spent money, and then properly categorize the expense.

There is no right or wrong here. It comes down to preference. You get a 30-day free trial. After that Tiller costs $79 a year.

3. You Need a Budget (YNAB)–Best for Budgeting

YNAB is ideal for those looking just for a budgeting tool. In my view, there is no better app when it comes to creating a budget. YNAB’s interface is similar to a spreadsheet. The tool makes it easy to budget by category based on the money you actually have in the bank.

One of YNAB’s core principles is to give every dollar a job. You do that by deciding how you’ll spend every dollar that enters your checking account. As with other tools, you can connect your bank accounts and credit cards to YNAB. This allows for real-time updates so that you can track your spending throughout the month.

YNAB doesn’t have the rich feature set offered by Personal Capital. That’s particularly clear when it comes to investing. For those who don’t want to track investments, however, YNAB is a good option.

It’s not free, however. You can try it free for 34 days. After that it costs $11.99 a month or $84 a year for the annual plan. The cost is the biggest downside to YNAB.

4. PocketSmith–Best for Calendar Budgeting

PocketSmith started out as a calendar to plan upcoming income and expenses. Today, it’s a full-fledged budgeting app. You can synch your accounts with PocketSmith. Once synced, you can track your budget and you’re net worth. You can also see your income and spending in a handy calendar view.

One stand-out feature is PocketSmith’s auto-budget tool. It can create a budget for you based on past spending. It also has a cash flow feature that maps income and spending by date range.

While there is a free version of PocketSmith, it requires manual data entry. To get automatic bank fees, you’ll need to pay at least $9.95 a month, or $7.50 a month when paid annually.

5. CountAbout–Imports from Quicken or Mint

If you have a lot of data in Quicken (or Mint), CountAbout may be the budgeting tool for you. It has a feature enabling you to import data from Quicken or Mint.

CountAbout enables you to download transactions from your bank and customize both income and expense categories. You can even attach receipt images to expense transactions. You can set up recurring transactions and generate financial reports.

For the features you get, the cost is very reasonable. The basic plan costs just $9.99 a year (not a month). If you want automatic downloading of bank transactions, the cost is $39.99 a year.

6. Moneydance–Traditional Budgeting Software

With so many apps going online, Moneydance takes a different approach. You download Moneydance software rather than use it online. Once downloaded, the software works much like you would expect.

You can download banking transactions into the software and initiate bill pay. The software automatically categorizes expenses based on how you categorize them. In other words, it learns from your use of the program.

It offers a dashboard (shown above) that summarizes your finances all in one place. It can also generate reports and graphs to give you a visual perspective of your money. It comes with a mobile app, can track your finances, and can alert you when bills are due.

It costs $49.99 and is available for both Mac and Windows.

7. EveryDollar (now Ramsey+)–Best for Dave Ramsey Fans

For those Dave Ramsey founds out there, EveryDollar may be a good substitute for Intuit’s Quicken. Now the first thing to point out is that EveryDollar ain’t cheap. After a 14-day trial, you’ll pay $129.99 a year. If you want to try it for just 3 months, it will cost $59.99. For this reason, it’s not high on my list. Still, I know that some folks are passionate about Financial Peace University.

You can sync your bank accounts with the tool, set up budgets, and track spending. The budgeting app works on both computers, smartphones and tablets. It also comes with Dave’s educational materials, enabling you to take online course and join virtual groups.

8. Banktivity–Designed for Macs Only

Banktivity is the budgeting app specifically designed for Macs. It offers features that enable you to organize and track all of your finances. You can group accounts and reports, and organize the dashboard in a way that works best for you.

Banktivity enables you to follow an envelope budget. This can be ideal for those living paycheck-to-paycheck.

You can import transactions from your bank and sync data across all of your Mac devices. Banktivity also tracks investments and offers account-level reporting. You can try Banktivity for free for 30 days. After that they offer three plans ranging in price from $4.16 to $8.33 a month (billed annually).

9. GnuCash–Best for Small Businesses

For those who tracked business income and expenses with Quicken and a reluctant to move up to Quickbooks, GnuCash may be the answer. It uses double-entry accounting, ideal for businesses and accounting nerds, like me. It tracks investments, schedules transactions, and generates reports and graphs.

10. Mint–Best Mobile App

I used Mint when it first came out more than a decade ago. Today, many are looking for Mint alternatives, including several of the apps listed here. Still, Mint is a worth consideration if you are replacing Intuit’s Quicken. It’s free, for starters. It’s easy to link your accounts and track your spending. It includes a budget planner and credit score tracker. Of course, there are great Mint alternatives as well.

11. GoodBudget–Best for Envelope Budgeting

I’m old enough to remember the envelope method of budgeting. My mom used it. When the money in the grocery envelope ran out, we stopped going to the grocery story until payday (seriously). Today, the envelope budget is still a smart way to manage money for those living paycheck-to-paycheck. If you want a digital version of the time-tested budgeting system, give GoodBudget a try.

Goodudget is an app based on the envelope system. You can sync and share your budget, and set goals to save for big purchases. It also has tools that let you track and payoff your debt.

You may be wondering if an AutoFull chair is right for you. If so, read on!

If you are a gaming chairs hunter on a mission to find the chairs best suited for your needs, our review can help you determine if your next (or first) gaming chair should be an AutoFull. We review chairs to find all of the details that are important to you as a gamer and verify that each of the chairs measures up.

There is more than one AutoFull chair – including a pink gaming chair with bunny ears – so it’s important to review several of their offerings to determine if the company delivers the kind of quality, comfort, and performance that you are looking for.

Whether you are playing PC games, games on Xbox One, or on some other platform, we encourage you to read at least one gaming chair review from us to find the best gaming chair for you. Let’s see what AutoFull has for us!

About AutoFull

If you follow professional gaming, you have probably heard of AutoFull chairs. They are considered by many to be some of the best gaming chairs.

The company’s Master Gaming Chair is used by many entry-level professionals, which is not surprising considering the fact that AutoFull is the sponsor of several probe leagues, including LDLMDI, and WCA.

Fortunately, AutoFull makes a range of gaming chairs, including some that are more affordable than it’s pro models (although the company’s chairs are still pretty top-end compared to the cheaper options out there.)

If you need a specific seat size, a certain seat height, a lumbar pillow, a high back, or even a pink gaming chair, chances are one of these AutoFull gaming chairs has what you need.

So, if you are researching chairs for gaming, you will find the info you need about some of the best gaming chairs from AutoFull in our review.

#1

No review for AutoFull gaming chairs would be complete without a review of the AutoFull Pink Bunny Chair.

There are plenty of gaming chairs out there, but not many as cute as this one. It goes all out with the cuteness, including bunny ears on top, a bunny tail, and furry armrests. If you like pink, you will probably love this chair.

Cuteness isn’t everything, though. You still want a comfortable gaming chair that you can use for hours on end – one that is just as good for Call of Duty as it is for MapleStory 2.

The AutoFull Pink Bunny Chair is made for serious gamers – from the smallest to those that fall into the big and tall category. It has the weight capacity to handle any gamer and high-density foam padding to keep them comfortable.

The company is known for its high-quality gaming chairs, which comes across in this relatively affordable pro chair. This AutoFull chair is both ergonomic and stylish, so you get lumbar support without looking like you are sitting in an office chair.

The best gaming chairs – at least the good ones – improve your gaming experience by supporting you in all the right places, and these pro chairs AutoFull makes are no exception.

The gaming chair comes with 4D adjustable back support and 3D adjustable armrests as well as a seat height adjustment mechanism that allows you to fit it to your body – whether you are big and tall, average, or on the smaller side.

The AutoFull Pro Gaming Chair is one of those gaming chairs that is likely to please most gamers. The chair ticks off all of the boxes that the best gaming chairs do, including high-quality PU leather, lumbar support, fully adjustable features, and more.

Pro gaming chairs are supposed to improve gaming response, and this professional gaming chair is likely to meet that requirement due to its superior design and customization options.

Not only does the AutoFull Pro Gaming chair perform well, but it also comes with a lifetime warranty and a 24-month warranty on parts. That means you can use the AutoFull gaming chair as hard as you need to without worrying about what happens if it breaks.

It is one of those PU leather chairs like the pros use – in fact, some pros really do use it!

#4

The AutoFull Mechanical Master gaming chair sits at the top end of the company’s lineup – it’s the AutoFull chair that not all people would appreciate but that serious gamers can’t help but want.

Instead of trying to create the most comfortable gaming chair, AutoFull went full out to achieve optimal performance. The chair’s best features are not related to comfort – instead, they are designed to shave milliseconds off of your gaming performance to help you win.

Probably the most interesting thing about the AutoFull Mechanical Master chair is the newly-designed armrests for gaming. The advanced mechanical arm provides superior support as you move, sliding forward and backward and rotating 360 degrees.

This gaming chair comes with specially-designed upholstery as well. It’s a PU+C-fiber leather chair which resists moisture damage.

In Closing

Trying to determine the best chair for gaming is no easy task because the answer can vary from person to person and therefore from review to review.

If you are a gaming chair review hunter, you may find one AutoFull gaming chair review differs drastically from another AutoFull gaming chair review – all for the same gaming chair.

With that being said, we believe our chair reviews reflect the opinions of true gamers and we have to say that an AutoFull gaming chair, whichever chair you choose, is likely to be one you enjoy.

Whether you are looking for a pink gaming chair, a relatively affordable entry-level gaming chair, or a chair that pro gamers would be happy with, the chairs from AutoFull are likely to suit you.

Just remember, if you have to have one gaming chair, we encourage you to choose the one that will fit your preferences. You don’t have to have the most high-end chair just to play Xbox One.

Trust your instincts – and our gaming chair review!

How Much Does Invisalign Cost and Is It Worth It?

A better smile doesn’t have to be out of reach. Here’s how you can get straighter teeth for less.

Thinking about getting invisible braces? You have more options than ever before to improve your teeth. Invisalign treatment costs between $3,000 and $7,000, although most people spend $5,000 or less, according to The Consumer Guide to Dentistry.

That’s in line with the cost of traditional metal braces, which ranges between $3,000 and $10,000. The cost of invisible braces at home, however, is typically between $1,200 and $2,400.

If you’re ready to upgrade your smile, here’s what you need to know about the cost of Invisalign as compared with at-home clear braces, how to pay for treatment, and whether it’s the right choice for you.

Invisalign Pros:

  • The aligners are nearly invisible, so they don’t affect your appearance.
  • You can take them off to eat and brush your teeth.
  • Treatment is usually quicker than with traditional metal braces and requires fewer dentist visits.
  • Invisalign is generally more comfortable than traditional metal or lingual braces.
  • Invisalign can be used to treat more severe or complex orthodontic problems.
  • Treatment may be covered by insurance.
  • Most people are happy with their results.

Invisalign Cons:

  • It costs more than other types of clear aligners.
  • Invisalign requires regular dentist visits.
  • No set fees; Invisalign costs depend on the dentist and treatment plan.
  • Fees and treatment time may change depending on progress and results.
  • Invisalign treatment doesn’t include the cost of retainers and aftercare.

Through comprehensive comparison of the above major Invisalign providers, Byte is our editors’ top pick for at-home teeth straightening, and you can achieve the results you desire in a short three months of treatment time.

Factors That Affect Invisalign Cost

Although most people spend between $3,000 and $5,000 on Invisalign braces, your costs could be higher or lower depending on your treatment plan.

In general, four main factors determine how much Invisalign costs:

Complexity of Treatment

Most invisible braces are designed for mild cosmetic misalignment issues of the teeth. Invisalign can treat more severe teeth and jaw misalignments, but it requires more dentist visits and aligner trays.

Because you work closely with your dentist, your treatment can be tweaked and refined if you’re not getting the results you expect. These refinements and custom aligners may be included in your original treatment cost, but some dentists charge extra for those services.

Dentist Experience

Invisalign awards points to dentists who perform Invisalign treatment. As they complete more treatments, the dentists advance into higher provider tiers.

Dentists in the highest provider tiers get significant discounts (as much as 40% or more) on Invisalign lab fees. Some dentists pass these savings on to their patients.

On the other hand, these highly experienced providers can also charge more for their services than dentists who haven’t completed very many treatments.

It’s worth checking your dentist’s provider tier and comparing costs if there are several providers in your area that offer Invisalign.

Where You Live

Invisalign costs vary based on where you live. In general, you’ll pay more for Invisalign in urban and suburban areas than you will in rural areas.

Not surprisingly, California and New York have some of the highest Invisalign treatment costs. The lowest Invisalign costs are in rural midwestern and southern states.

Retainers and Aftercare

Most dentists recommend that you wear a retainer after your Invisalign treatment to keep your teeth from shifting. Retainers aren’t included in Invisalign costs. The price will vary by dentist, but you can expect to pay between $400 and $1,000 for a full set.

Does Insurance Cover Invisalign Treatment?

Most insurance plans cover Invisalign the same way they cover traditional braces. If your insurance pays for orthodontia, it should pay for treatment with Invisalign.

Keep in mind most plans don’t pay the full cost of braces. It’s common for plans to pay a percentage of the bill or a fixed amount toward orthodontic treatment. You’ll most likely have a balance even after your insurance company pays.

Some states require insurers to cover orthodontic care for children, but that requirement doesn’t apply to adults. If your plan pays for adult orthodontic care, it may only do so to correct a medical or functional issue with your teeth or jaw.

It’s rare for insurance plans to pay for braces for cosmetic reasons. You’ll probably have to pay the full cost of treatment if you only want braces to improve your appearance.

If you’re not sure about your insurance benefits, you can download the Invisalign app and check your coverage. The Invisalign app has coverage information for most major insurance plans so you can see exactly what your plan will pay.

Other Ways to Pay for Invisalign

Invisalign Monthly Payment Plans

Most Invisalign providers offer monthly payment plans, but they aren’t standardized by the Invisalign company. Some dentists work with health care financing companies like Denefit and Care Credit. The finance company pays the cost of your Invisalign treatment, and you make monthly payments to the finance company.

Other providers finance Invisalign treatment themselves. You usually make a down payment before treatment begins and pay the balance in installments over the course of your treatment.

Because Invisalign providers choose which type of payment plans to offer, it’s important to ask what’s available before you agree to treatment. Be sure to check interest rates and other applicable fees so you get the best deal.

No-interest credit cards

Some people use credit cards to pay for Invisalign. You can avoid finance charges if you open an account with a 0% introductory rate and pay off the balance during the introductory period.

Ways to Save on Invisalign Costs

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

If you have a flexible savings account (FSA) through your employer, you can use those funds to pay for Invisalign treatment. Since FSA contributions are made with pretax dollars, it’s like getting a discount on your braces. Many employers issue an FSA debit card so you can pay with FSA funds at the time of service.

Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

You can also use money in your health savings account (HSA) to pay for Invisalign. HSA funds are also tax-advantaged. Unlike flex spending accounts, however, you usually have to pay your health costs upfront with an HSA and request reimbursement from your plan.

How Invisalign Treatment Works

Unlike Byte and other at-home aligner services, Invisalign is an in-person treatment. It starts with a visit to an Invisalign provider for a 3D scan of your teeth and a custom treatment plan.

You’ll have follow-up visits with your dentist every six to eight weeks to chart your progress, make any adjustments to your treatment plan, and pick up your next set of aligners.

This in-person element means that Invisalign can help people with more complicated dental needs. It also adds to the cost of Invisalign treatment.

Alternatives to Invisalign Treatment

At-home aligners

If you have mild teeth misalignment, you may be able to use invisible braces at home with brands such as Byte or SmileDirectClub. These clear aligner trays are typically much less expensive than Invisalign. You can complete the treatment entirely at home without an in-person dentist visit. See our in-depth review of the best at-home aligner-Byte to help you decide whether this is a good option for your dental needs.

While most companies that offer at-home aligners offer payment plans, your insurance plan may not cover the treatment in the same manner as Invisalign is covered. Check with your plan for details. At-home aligner companies frequently offer monthly payment plans, and you may be able to use your FSA or HSA.

Lingual braces

Lingual braces are metal braces placed on the tongue side of your teeth. Because they are on the back of your teeth, they are nearly invisible. They require regular visits with a dental provider and typically cost more than Invisalign and traditional braces. However, they may be covered by dental insurance.

The major drawback to lingual braces is that they cause a lisp when you speak. Because of the way they are placed, the braces interfere with normal speech patterns. The lisp usually gets better over time, however.

Traditional metal braces

Traditional metal braces can treat a wide range of orthodontic issues. If you aren’t a candidate for Invisalign or lingual braces, traditional braces may be your only option. It is also important to consider the prime differences between Invisalign versus traditional braces.

You’ve had Invisalign before, but your teeth have shifted

One of the things that can be frustrating about orthodontic care is that no matter how much time and money you’ve put into your teeth, they can change and shift over time. Our dentists and orthodontists encourage us to wear retainers and continue the maintenance they have prescribed for us, but life happens. We forget. We don’t think it will happen to us. Then, one day we look in the mirror, and we’re unsatisfied with what we see.

That’s where at-home invisible aligner companies can be incredibly helpful. Many people who previously have been treated with Invisalign and have seen their teeth shift over time, can save both time and money by getting a quick and easy treatment from the convenience of their own home.

Byte is our editors’ top pick for at-home teeth straightening, and you can achieve the results you desire in a short three months of treatment time.

Is Invisalign Worth It? The Bottom Line

Invisalign treatment costs more than other clear aligners, but it can correct most types of teeth and jaw issues. If you’re not a candidate for other aligner trays, Invisalign may be your best choice for invisible braces.

If you can’t decide between Invisalign and lingual braces, Invisalign has several advantages. The first is the cost of treatment: Invisalign typically costs less than lingual braces. Invisalign also doesn’t interfere with your speech the way lingual braces do. That’s especially important for people who have to speak a lot at work or school. In addition, there are fewer dentist visits with Invisalign compared to lingual braces.

If you have minor alignment issues, you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars with at-home invisible braces. But if your smile needs more than a little work, Invisalign is a reasonably priced alternative to traditional or lingual braces.

Best Food Sensitivity Tests: Are These Tests Worth the Money? (2025 Review) https://topguide4you.com/blog/best-food-sensitivity-tests/ Thu, 08 Jul 2021 14:21:09 +0000 https://topguide4you.com/?p=3120 Best Food Sensitivity Tests: Are These Tests Worth the Money? (2025 Review)最先出现在

From that data, you can discover food intolerances and food sensitivities that could be compromising your health.

In this discussion, we’re going to review the top food sensitivity tests online and consider the pros and cons of each one. By the end, you might know which test feels right for you.

Best Food Sensitivity Tests

#1 5 Strands Most Affordable Food Intolerance Test

5 Strands stresses affordable testing and even pet testing, though one of the most important offerings is that of the food intolerance test. After a lab analyzes your samples, you can learn results from a doctor and get details on why you experience symptoms related to indigestion.

Strands uses bioresonance technology to identify temporary imbalances associated with food intolerance. Whereas allergy symptoms are more severe, food intolerance and sensitivity usually involves daily discomfort. The special testing can determine imbalances and what you need to do to improve your diet and life quality.

5 Strands doesn’t require a blood test but instead analyzes data from hair samples, between 10-15 strands. They also deliver results 7-10 days from the day the sample arrives at the lab.

The company states that hair testing is thorough and unaffected by meals, stress, medication and other compromising factors that affect other tests. While the company doesn’t provide IgE or IgG analysis (which involve immune response) they do provide a food intolerance test to help with eliminating foods that affect indigestion.

They even offer a pet version of their food sensitivity test, if you notice your pet has been having difficulty lately.

PROS

  • Cutting edge bioresonance technology, no need for a blood test
  • Human and pet screening available
  • Inexpensive tests under $100

CONS

  • Hair testing is somewhat controversial, at least compared to blood/urine

Visit 5Strands

#2 Everlywell Best Overall

Test materials arrive by mail after your order. You enter the provided kit ID and then complete and return a finger prick sample of blood. Shipping is prepaid and when your test sample goes through, a doctor (board-certified and independent from the company) reviews your results. Within days you get your results.
PROS

  • Independent physicians that ensure accuracy
  • Skip the lab visit and take a test without leaving the house
  • All work is done at CLIA-certified labs

CONS

  • Only food sensitivity testing, no food allergies

Visit Everlywell

#3 HealthLabs.com Biggest Network of Labs

FAQs About Food Testing

What’s the difference when testing food sensitivity vs. food intolerance vs. food allergy?

You might be confused by multiple references (or even a lack of any references) to three specific types of food testing: sensitivity, intolerance, and allergies. Each test is different and the methods of analyzing data are different as well.

Food Allergy

Food allergies tend to be more serious and some even life-threatening. On the other hand, some allergic reactions are somewhat mild, such as dizziness, hives and itching. However, some food allergies can cause anaphylaxis, which is potentially fatal unless the person received medical attention. Food allergies involve a strong reaction from your immune system.

When you’re allergic to something, your body identifies a harmful protein and produces antibodies in defense. In some cases, even touching the allergen can cause major symptoms.

Food Intolerance

A food intolerance reaction, however, comes from the digestive system. Symptoms are usually not critical but still very uncomfortable, such as bloating, gas, diarrea, and constipation. According to Healthline, most doctors agree food intolerances are not life-threatening, since they don’t involve the immune system.
It’s easy to see what people get these terms confused, since symptoms can be the same in some cases. However, the allergic reaction is so strong it causes a reaction, and that in turns affects multiple organs in your body.

A food intolerance may still let you eat small amounts of the food in question, but you may have difficulty breaking it down and digesting it, which is why symptoms appear. The reasons for intolerance may involve:

  • Lacking the right enzyme for proper digestion
  • Reactions to food additives
  • Intolerance of chemicals or certain natural stimulants
  • Problems digestion natural sugar

Food Sensitivities

Food sensitivities may seem like the same thing as intolerances at first glance, but they are not as eventful as intolerances, which are based on digestive problems. Food sensitivities seem to involve less severe pain and symptoms like:

  • Joint pain
  • Stomach ache
  • Fatigue
  • Brain Fog
  • Rashes

According to a Harvard Medical School article, not as much is known about food sensitivities, but they appear to be less predictable than intolerances. Your body may change over time and so food sensitivities might also change, along with the “gut microbiome” (gut microbiota that live in humans) that determines your reaction to food.

What types of food sensitivity tests exist?

Antibody Blood Testing

Food sensitivity tests may involve several methods of testing, such as blood testing, which involves immunoglobulin G (IgG). IgG reactivity is measured by a blood test and you receive data on immune system response to approximately 100-200 different foods.

According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, IgG antibodies are produced after a person eats, and may not be as reliable for diagnosing medical issues.
In contrast, in an allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) test, IgE antibodies are analyzed for an overactive immune response, with IgE antibodies appearing in the blood.

Hair Testing

Hair testing is also called bioresonance technology and involves testing hair strands in order to create a profile of energies that radiate from a subject. This energetic blueprint is then compared to food items, for understanding harmony or in many cases, imbalance and distortion.

In theory, all matter has its own unique wavelength and frequency. If a cell is healthy, it resonates with other cells. But distortions in the energy field can eventually cause imbalance and eventually physical symptoms. Cellular energy of tissue might be affected and analyzed well before the blood chemistry changes and appears in a blood test.

Cell-Based Tests

MRT and ALCAT testing also involve testing blood samples. These samples, however, are not believed to be as reliable as traditional blood tests.

The Mediator Release Test requires a blood sample, which can show if white blood cells shrink when exposed to a food antigen because of changes in the solids-to-liquid ratio.

The Antigen Leukocyte Cellular Antibody Test measures changes in the size of white blood cells, independent of solids to liquid ratio.

Muscle Response Test

The Applied Kinesiology test involves a subject holding a vial of food antigen while extending the other hand. A doctor pushes down on your second arm to determine if there is observable weakness, which implies food sensitivity. Not enough studies have been completed to determine the accuracy of muscle response as affected by food sensitivity.

Provocation/Neutralization

Injecting your skin with food and studying the reactions may seem like a radical idea but it has its supporters. After extracts are injected, the doctor checks to see if a red swollen mark or raised swelling develops. You are then giving a weaker and diluted injection to neutralize the response.

Electrodermal Screening

Electrodermal screening involves observing changes in the skin’s electrical activity that happens when food antigens come into contact with acupuncture points. The subject holds an electrode in one hand, which connects to a computer that scans the frequencies of suspected food antigens.

The Elimination Diet

The elimination diet tests your symptoms in response to consuming suspected antigens according to schedule. In theory, the elimination diet could be performed on your own, without a doctor or food testing company’s involvement. However, it might be easier to use their system so that you can more easily keep track of eliminated foods.

Under supervision, the elimination diet method doesn’t tell you which foods you’re avoiding specifically, but simply studies your body’s response to various meals. Elimination diets take about two weeks before withdrawal symptoms clear up.

How much does food sensitivity testing cost?

Price can range between $100 and $500, though many of the tests we reviewed came in closer $100 to $200 for a single test.

Are food sensitivity tests reliable?

As we reviewed, some doctors doubt the accuracy and validity of some of these tests, particularly sensitivity and intolerance testing methods. Known allergies are easier to test for because of the severity of immune system response. With less aggressive symptoms observed, the process leaves itself open for debate.

However, many customers have reported feeling better after eliminating foods that were observed to have a reaction following a sensitivity/intolerance test. No test is completely perfect and fortunately, some companies offer money back guarantees or free trials/discounts for their test products.

Conclusion

After our review, 5Strands came in at number one, due to a large number of tests, affordable pricing, and the convenience of not having to visit a lab to get tested.

Technology has come a long way for food testing in recent years and it’s easier than ever before to follow through on your intuition and get accurate test results. Using the process of elimination, as well as scientific evidence of immune or digestive response, you can change the way you eat and experience better health benefits – just in time to finish 2020, a year of change.

Byte Reviews 2021

Overview of Byte

Byte uses a unique teledentistry platform to make it easier, faster, and more affordable for people to get the orthodontic work and better smile they’ve been wanting. The company, created in 2017 and launched in 2019, is based in Los Angeles. Byte works with over 2000 licensed doctors, orthodontists, and dentists across the US who prescribe and oversee every treatment plan with Byte clear aligners.

Byte treats people aged 12 and up who have all of their adult teeth along with a Byte orthodontist’s approval to safely receive teledentistry. Using invisible, plastic, custom-fit aligner devices, Byte is designed to align teeth in a minor to moderate way. This includes spacing, crowding, and rotation corrections. Gradually over time, your teeth shift to become straighter and improve your smile.

The next portion of this Byte review will look at how Byte works:

  1.  Byte home impressions are shipped to you and will indicate whether you’re a good candidate for Byte. The process takes about 15 minutes and there are easy to follow instructions, including how to return the impressions with free shipping.
  2. Once received, your impressions are used by Byte orthodontists to create your personalized treatment plan. This includes using several photos for their “Smile Science” to observe your face proportions, features, and symmetry to design the best smile for you.
  3. Using remote monitoring throughout treatment, your doctor tracks your progress with Byte.

ORDER HOME IMPRESSIONS

Next up, this Byte review showcases these products, along with the signature Byte dental movement acceleration devicewhitening kitall-in-one foam cleanser, whitener, and breath freshener.

This Byte review not only dives deep into these products but answers the important question, how much does ByteMe cost? Since the treatment occurs over time, we’ll also address how much is Byte monthly? Read on for details.

Byte All-Day Aligners Review

Byte All-Day Aligners

Byte All-Day Aligners are custom invisible aligners that gradually and safely move your teeth to where they should be. You wear each aligner for one week, then move on to the next set for the duration of your program. To improve comfort and speed up results, you also wear HyperByte for 5 minutes each day (HyperByte is included for free, see details below).

Byte All-Day Aligners help you straighten teeth at home. These are to be worn for at least 22 hours each day and only removed when eating or drinking. The highly transparent aligners are made from BPA-free, medical-grade, tear-resistant polymer film. They’re smoother and 88% more stain-resistant than others, which has been scientifically proven.

When the instructions for use are followed correctly, it takes just 3-4 months to see results, which happens to be the fastest turnaround time in the industry! Byte All Day Aligners will cost you $83/month for 29 months ($2,407 total), with a $349 deposit.

Byte All-Night Aligners Review

Byte All-Night Aligners

If the thought of wearing your aligners during the day leaves you cringing (fair!), check out Byte All-Night Aligners. These work while you sleep to straighten your teeth. The night version of Byte aligners are made with a thicker medical-grade polymer, BPA-free, grind-resistant material—so if you grind your chompers at night, you’re killing two birds with one stone.

The aligners require a minimum continuous 10 hours of wear along with HyperByte for 10 minutes a day. Once you have doctor approval, you’ll see results and feel less discomfort in about 5-6 monthsByte All-Night Aligners will cost you $99/month for 29 months, with a $449 deposit.

Byte HyperByte Review

HyperByte is Byte’s safe and proven dental movement acceleration device. Using micropulses from vibration-based therapy (High Frequency Vibrations), commonly used by orthodontists, HyperByte is included for free with each treatment plan.

HyperByte gets through the roots of your teeth to the bone around them and positions your aligners to move your teeth and increase cellular activity. This process increases comfort, helps better position aligners around your teeth, speeds up teeth movement, and reduces treatment times (by about half!).

The HyperByte device is to be used with your aligners in, once a day for 5-10 minutesHyperByte is included and only available while participating in Byte’s treatment but, should you ever need a replacement, you can buy it for $699.

Byte Reviews: What Do Customers Think?

On to the biggest question in this Byte review: does Byte really work? Byte reviews indicate that the treatment is highly rated by customers. Consumer Affairs shows a 5/5 star rating based on 1,887 reviews from the past year, Best Company gives Byte 4.8/5 stars based on 2,788 reviews, and 321 BBB reviews give Byte a 4.47/5 stars. Very impressive!

People liked the simple and easy process, short treatment time, the Byte All-Night option, and that HyperByte is included for free. However, Byte’s somewhat higher prices compared to alternatives was a noted downside.

One Byte reviewer indicated that they had not been reimbursed by insurance due to a systematic issue between the insurer and orthodontist. So, if you’re using health insurance, it’s prudent to confirm your coverage specifically for Byte before purchasing.

Are Byte Aligners Worth It?

This Byte review will provide our impression of Byte and whether or not its products and treatment plan are worthwhile. Based on the research we conducted, choosing Byte is a good move, provided you’re willing to pay more for faster results.

The simple and easy process, short treatment time, payment and payment plan options, and elements like HyperByte and Byte All-Night make Byte stand out from the competition and appear to be worth it.

Keep in mind that even the most reputable brands will have some negative reviews. If issues do come up, Byte has Aligner and Byte-for-Life guarantees (for more details, check the FAQ section of this Byte review).

FAQ

This Byte review addresses the most commonly asked questions posed by customers.

Does Byte take insurance?

You may be wondering, how much is Byte with insurance?. Byte doesn’t take payment directly from insurance companies, but it’s possible to be reimbursed for Byte aligners directly by your insurance company if you get orthodontic benefits with your dental coverage. If needed, Byte can provide the required forms to file a claim.

How long do you wear Byte?

Byte treatment plans vary in duration depending on the person, but the process typically takes 2-4 months. Because of HyperByte, this is much faster than the competition.

How long does Byte take to ship?

Byte ships to all states within the US and at no charge to you. It takes about 4 weeks from when you purchase your impression kit (assuming you return it right away) to receive your aligners and begin treatment. Conveniently, you can opt in to receive SMS messages with shipping updates.

How do I cancel Byte?

When you buy an impression kit, Byte’s dentists and orthodontists create an ideal treatment plan. If they determine you’re not a good fit to get great results from Byte, they’ll inform you and issue a refund for your impression kit.

Byte offers their Aligner Guarantee, which uses their “Smile Science” to straighten your teeth and complement your facial features. To achieve this, Byte needs you to follow certain guidelines:

  1. Wear your aligners every single day for at least 20 hours a day, except when you are eating or drinking anything besides water.
  2. If you are using HyperByte, this needs to happen for 5-10 minutes a day, every day.
  3. At the indicated check-in times, upload separate photos to your account (taken when you’re not wearing your aligners) of both your upper and lower teeth.

After following these guidelines if you’re unhappy at the end of your plan, contact Byte within 15 days of your original prescribed treatment end date. Their team will re-evaluate your results and you could be eligible for additional aligners.

Byte also created the Byte-for-Life Guarantee. This means they will always guarantee your smile and offer additional lifetime treatment, at no extra charge, if your teeth ever move out of alignment. Including any unwanted movement away from your smile after treatment.

This can show your treatment plan and Byte retainers use were carried out as instructed. If your teeth happen to become misaligned, you will receive additional impression kits and treatment plans, with aligners. You should note that teeth covered in this guarantee are:

  • Those originally involved in your Byte treatment plan,
  • Not any that have been affected or changed by physical outside circumstances, trauma, or other health reasons, and
  • Not missing, or affected by other dental or orthodontic treatment outside of Byte.

Byte does not take returns. They will only exchange damaged products you might receive, so be aware that exchanges are not accepted for any other reason. If your product is received damaged, just email [email protected] to get the process started.

Discover Car Hire Reviews 2022 – Is it Safe to book? (Step-by-Step Guide)

Welcome to our detailed Discover Car Hire Reviews. Like the name suggests, this website lets you rent a car worldwide. We have been struggling a very long time with that topic. We could not find a single car rental website doing what is is supposed to do: compare prices and lets me book a car without nasty extra charges.

Well, now we have finally tested extensively Discover Car Hire.

Update: Discover Car Hire is now Discover Cars.com – same company!

Renting a car can definitely be a much more convenient way to explore the nooks and crannies of whatever area you’re traveling around.

It is true that if you are out of the country, your accommodation hires cars for you but it is not always the case so it is good to know what options you have.

Although it can be more expensive than buses or trains, especially if you factor in fuel costs, a car gives you access to more of what a country has to offer. For me, they are particularly useful because I love hiking and exploring parks and forests, and in many cases a car is the only way to access some of them.

While traveling through Albania by bus/hitchhiking this summer, I had a conversation with a French couple that made me acutely aware of this fact.

They had rented a car and were midway through an exhaustive loop of the country. Their stories were full of descriptions of little out-of-the-way places they’d seen, and I felt like I’d just barely scratched the surface of my experience in this beautiful country. And although I had an overall great wander through Albania, there were a few national parks I just couldn’t get to without a car, and ended up leaving with a little pang of regret.

So cars can be useful. Also Airbnb to find great apartments for your trip.

A lot of car rental companies can be pretty cagey about extra fees and charges though, and we here at One Week In have had some experiences with rental companies where we’ve ended up paying a lot more than expected once we showed up at the office to pick up the car.

Usually these extra costs are related to insurance, but sometimes they include things you really don’t need that the employees of rental company X push you into adding on.

We have had a really nice experience with Discover Car Rental Provider recently, and after some thorough research and comparisons of prices and insurance packages offered by other leading companies, we can say that Discover really does offer some of the best deals out there.

Hire a Car in Europe, you will love it

1. What is Discover Car Hire?

I want to start this guide with the most obvious question: What exactly is Discover Car Hire?

Discover Car Hire is basically a price comparison website for hiring a car.

That is it. Very, very simple.

It is what they do all day and night long.

Finding cars to rent has never been so easy. They can show you a vast range of cars to hire. Instead of visiting 7 different websites, it shows you the availability, prices and options for different cars. The bigger the car, the more expensive it gets. This is obvious, right?

Discover Car Hire is also more than just price comparison.

Why? Because you can buy a car insurance directly with them. This is much cheaper and avoids nasty surprises when picking up the car.

This is the main reason why we started using this company in June 2019. It is by all means our go-to page when we need to get a vehicle. Whether that is renting a car in Cyprus, in New Zealand, in the USA or anywhere. It does not matter.

What is Discover Cars?

2. Discover Cars: The Pros

  1. Compares many companies
  2. Lower cost
  3. Reasonable deposit
  4. User-Friendly website
  5. Fewer hidden fees
  6. Free cancellation up to 48 hours
  7. Lower cost of insurance
  8. Comprehensive insurance

2.1 Compare many car rental companies

Discover Cars helps you find the lowest prices by comparing a lot of different car companies. This gives you a ton of low-budget options to choose from. Book cars on rent for a trip with Discover Cars.

If you’ve ever used Skyscanner to look for flight tickets (which we highly recommend), then you’ll be familiar with this model.

Discover is basically a Skyscanner, but for rental cars. And since you’re comparing lots of different companies, you also get to choose from lots of different cars. Another plus.

2.2 Lower Cost

All of us are looking for affordable car hires. Hiring cars can be expensive but not until we discovered car rentals with Discover Cars. They negotiate prices for many hire cars with car hire companies to secure lower prices for their customers. Find cheap cars for rentals with Discover Cars.

Like I mentioned above, since Discover Cars compares many different companies, they’ll find you the cheapest options for wherever you plan on renting your car.

This can mean a rental car through Discover can be anywhere from $20-40/day cheaper than more recognized competitors.

We’ll get into a price breakdown with some examples a little later. It’s also important to note that prices and car availability varies depending on which country you’re in, another thing we’ll get into later in the article.

Visit Discover Cars here

2.3 Reasonable Deposit

If you plan on renting a car, then you’ll most likely have to pay a deposit.

The amount of the deposit will vary depending on which country you’re in and the total cost of your rental. These deposits can really vary between countries, so it’s important to be aware of this.

The great thing about Discover is that

a) the deposit prices are reasonable and compare favorably to other big name car rental companies, and

b) they make it very easy to see the deposit price when you choose your rental on their website.

Companies like Budget, Hertz and Avis make it quite difficult to find this information, and it can take a bit of searching to find the information. And then even if you do, sometimes these companies still don’t give a very clear answer, instead deferring to the phrase “varies by location” or some such vagueness.

2.4 User-Friendly Website

Discover’s website is super easy to use, and it gives you all the information you need about the rental costs, insurance, coverage, deposit, deductible etc.

They lay everything out plainly for you, unlike a lot of other sites we’ve used. There’s no need to squint through the fine print of Rental Terms and Conditions to find out how much you’ll actually be paying once you get to your rental car location.

Once you choose your car, you can see in the bottom left corner of the window the company providing the car, the company’s rating out of 10, and then a link to “Rental Conditions”. Click on it and something like this will pop up:

Notice that the deposit amount and deductible is written plainly right under the image of the car. In this search example, we chose four days out of Stockholm airport, which was $157 total, fully insured.

A VERY general rule that a few countries stick to is that the deposit will usually be the total cost of the rental, plus either 25% or $200, whichever is higher. So in this case that holds about true, $157 plus $200 comes to $357, just a bit higher than the ~$320 shown above.

And again we can’t stress the approximately enough.

Discover Car Hire has a User-Friendly Website

2.5 Fewer hidden fees

One of the great results of the transparency of Discover’s website is that there are no hidden fees.

Lots of car rental companies hit you with fees you weren’t aware of when reserving the car, because their websites don’t make it obvious what the deposit will be or how much insurance will cost.

2.6 Free Cancellation up to 48 hours

This is a nice feature to be aware of in case of any sudden changes to your itinerary.

Some other rental companies like Hertz also offer this option, but a lot of them also only offer a full refund if you cancel at least 7 days before your scheduled pick-up.

Discover Cars cancellation policy is the same as the others. Discover Cars refund anytime up until 48 hours.

2.7 A good, low-cost insurance option

Discover offers a flat-rate insurance option for just 8.85€/day, no matter where you’re renting the car.

Most other companies have variable insurance costs per day, and these costs are usually a bit higher, so it’s nice to see some consistency in this regard.

2.8 Discover’s insurance coverage

Also, this full-coverage insurance option includes theft insurance, something that other companies tack on as an additional option with additional cost.

Here’s a full breakdown of Discover’s insurance coverage:

  • It works together with the rental car’s basic insurance, your personal car insurance or your credit card’s insurance if you have it.
  • Covers taxi expenses directly related to a breakdown or accident.
  • It will cover your expenses up to $3,300.
  • Covers lost keys or lockout fees.
  • You must first pay for any damages, then ask for compensation.
  • Covers repair costs, including damage to the undercarriage, wheels, tires, roof, windows, mirrors,
  • locks and hubcaps. (basic damage protection usually just covers bodywork).
  • Covers towing expenses up to 100 euro.
  • Administrative fees are covered (related to the money the company loses while the car is being repaired).

Here’s what they don’t cover. What’s not covered is pretty standard when compared to other companies:

  • Extras
  • Personal possessions
  • Damage that occurred while breaking any laws or traffic violations
  • Any damage to the car’s interior
  • Damages from weather events like hail or hurricanes

3. How to Request Compensation

If the worst does happen, and you get into an accident (that hopefully isn’t your fault), then here’s how you request compensation:

Contact (customer_satisfaction[at]discovercars.com), and make sure you include the following documents:

  • Your signed rental agreement
  • Rental company’s assessment of the car’s condition when you picked it up and when you returned it
  • Invoice from the rental company charging you the deductible/fees
  • Receipts showing payment for the deductible
  • Your Paypal or bank account details
  • A detailed account of the incident (including photographs/video evidence if you have it)
  • A written police report (if applicable)

This is pretty par for the course when it comes to renting a car. Always make sure you keep receipts and invoices just in case something bad happens.

Best Car Rental Companies: Discover Car Hire is at the top of our list

4. Discover Cars: The Cons

So now let’s get into some of the shortcomings of Discover Cars.

It’s important to be aware that some of Discover’s pros can also be cons, and that some other cons are shared with most other car rentals, and are just consequences of the variability of renting cars in general.

  1. Smaller, lesser-known companies
  2. One day rental is almost as expensive as renting for 3 days
  3. Not so many deals
  4. Higher age threshold

4.1 Smaller, lesser-known companies

Because of the nature of Discover’s service, which is to find customer’s the absolute cheapest options out there, you’ll inevitably wind up looking at rental options from companies you’ve never heard of.

A certain amount of trust and peace of mind can come with choosing a well-established, well-known car company like Hertz, Avis, Enterprise or Budget.

On the other hand, these companies tend to bury fees in fine print and have their fair share of bad car rental reviews, so take that with a grain of sand.

We reached out to Discover Car Hire directly and asked about this. They told us the following:

It is an absolute truth that Discover Cars partnered with the smaller, local car rental suppliers, operating in that one country, or even city.

They often offer lower prices to get their customers.

However, as mentioned, you also find the well-known companies.

In many cases these world-known companies provide special offers, therefore Discover Car Hire offer pretty good deals for the customers. For example, Europcar, Budget, Sixt are chosen quite often.

The main idea is not to provide the cheapest option, but to provide as many options as possible, so a customer can find the most suitable one, according to his or her needs. The customer service will always be happy to assist if any help is needed at this step.

Also, they help their customers to make a choice, which is right for them, by showing partner’s rating on the website discovercars.com. Suppliers with the greatest scores have even received a Discover Cars excellence award.

This being said, that everyone can find an option for a car rental: whether the price comes first, supplier, car type or fuel policy.

4.2 One day rental is almost as expensive as renting for 3 days

So if you just need a car for hire for one day, maybe look elsewhere.

In fact, this is not really only a con of discover car hire/ discover cars. Renting a car for only 1 day is always expensive. The longer you have it, the cheaper it gets.

For example, we looked at renting a car from Munich.

One day, with the $8.85/day full-coverage insurance, costs $94, while the total cost for three days is $150 ( not even over 130 euros) , or $50/day, almost half the cost per day! This is a larger discrepancy than other car rental companies we looked at. Budget, for example, offers one day at about the same rate as three.

While this is not a huge deal, it’s definitely something to keep in mind.

Truth be told, I do not see a reason why you would need to book a car for one day only anyways.

Also full coverage is more expensive if taken for one-day only (15.90 euros). It is a bit cheaper if it’s for two days (11.00 euros/day), and at its regular price if it’s for 3+ days (7.95 euros/day). The truth is that most of the customers rent a car for the period of 3-7 days to explore a particular location.

Visit Discover Cars here

4.3 Not so many deals

One of the pros of going directly through a company like SIXT or Hertz is that you can get a membership rewards-type card.

If you rent cars frequently or even once or twice a year, this can be a super useful way to get discounts and deals that you can’t get through Discover.

Personally, I do not rent very often car. I am assuming, this is more for business travellers.

Yet again, we reached out to the car rental service for their take on this. Here is their statement:

This depends a lot on a location, searching time and travelling time. For example, right now we have added multiple deals for the January Sale (about which I believe you have received a separate email from me, please let me know if you didn’t).

We even have special car rental deals for Valentine’s day.

4.4 Higher age threshold

Discover Cars’ best rates are for people aged between 30-65. This lower limit of 30 years old is a bit higher than other companies.

So with Discover, you are missing out on possible deals offered through frequent driver programs with other companies, taking a bit of a risk by going with lesser known companies, and paying more if you just want to rent for a day.

But all in all, Discover is very cheap, offers a solid, affordable insurance option, has reasonable deductibles, and features a user-friendly website that gives you easy access to all the costs and options related to your rental.

Here is what Discover Cars says about their age threshold:

The age threshold depends on a location, car rental company, car type. For example, in Rome the same prices can be found for the 25y.o. driver, as for the 30-65. Prices’ connection to the driver’s age varies.

5. Things to Consider When Renting a Car

Now that we’ve looked at the pros and cons of Discover cars, let’s go through some things to think about in general when renting a car.

The number one thing to keep in mind is that costs will vary across the board depending on a bunch of different factors.

  1. Deposit
  2. Will you be crossing borders?
  3. Rates will change based on your country of residence
  4. Drop Off / Pick Up Points
  5. How Old Are You?
  6. Deductible
  7. Who will be driving?
  8. Debit/ Credit

So first, let’s take a look at what exactly will vary and why.

5.1 Deposit

In most cases, you will have to pay a deposit, and this deposit will vary depending on the location where you pick up the car.

As I mentioned above, sometimes the deposit is equal to the cost of the rental plus %25 or $200, whichever is higher. In other locations, the deposit can be at least $200, or even a minimum of $500-$1,000.

It really can vary.

So how about a personal anecdote related to deposit that will serve as a cautionary tale for those of you looking into renting a car.

Your humble writer reserved a rental car through Hertz this past summer in Croatia. Online, the price seemed quite reasonable, at about $15/day for eight days.

I failed in quite a few ways in this case, one of the main ones being my research into possible fees.

When I got to the airport rental location outside of Dubrovnik, I was told that the price didn’t include insurance, or crossing borders, which required a special pass that cost extra (and get into a bit later). So just there the price just about double from what I was expecting.

To add insult to injury, I discovered that the deposit was over $1,500.

Now, I’m not a rich man, but I’m also not a poor man. I’m also quite happy with the limit of $1,000 on my credit card because I don’t use it much and mostly just rely on the money in my bank account. Problem was, Hertz (at least in Croatia) doesn’t allow you to use your debit card for the deposit.

So I was pretty…sad!

Luckily though, one of the employees in the little Hertz kiosk was able to phone a friend at one of the smaller, lesser-known companies occupying the same lot outside the airport which offered a deposit-free rental.

With insurance included, $200 for the 8 days was what I got, which wasn’t bad given the situation.

In the end, the little VW Up I drove around Croatia was in great condition, reliable and had excellent gas mileage. In the blur of the moment I didn’t scrutinize the deductible or any significant details, so I’m still not quite sure what exactly I risked in this deal.

But the moral of the story is: don’t be me. Do your research and be informed about what you’ll be paying for and how you’ll be paying for it.

5.2 Will you be crossing borders?

Another thing to consider is whether or not you’ll be crossing any borders.

And again, company policies change with regard to this depending on where you are and which company you’re going with.

To go back to my previous example, I purchased a border pass in Croatia because I knew I would be travelling into Bosnia and Herzegovina. I was told I would need to show this pass at any border crossing around the Balkans, however I didn’t end up showing it once.

Perhaps it was simply a legal requirement to have one in the car, but I could’ve definitely gotten away with not having it.

But in any case, it’s always better to be safe than sorry, and just the peace of mind of having it was enough to justify the extra, nominal fee.

Another great thing about Discover Cars, is that it gives you a list of geographical restrictions and policies right there in the “Rental Conditions” pop-up I mentioned earlier.

Renting a Car with Discover Car Hire

Car Rental in Europe; pay attention to the restrictions

5.3 Rates will change based on your country of residence

Another important thing to be aware of, although there’s not so much you can do about it.

Websites and Tools we use to travel Europe

Just note that there is an option to choose your country of residence on most rental websites, including Discover Cars, and that whatever you choose should match the country on your driver’s license.

So don’t try to get cute and change the country of residence because it’s cheaper, only to arrive at the pick-up location and be charged extra because it’s inconsistent with your license.

Visit Discover Cars here

5.4 Drop Off / Pick Up Points

Be aware that if you choose to drop off the car at a different location, then the price will increase significantly.

I talking maybe double the price. I’m always frustrated by this, because the idea of dropping the car off at a different point means getting to maximize the distance you can travel and things you can see, but the rental companies view this as extra risk.

If you plan on trying to explore as much as possible, it would be a good idea to plan a loop instead of going from A to B.

5.5 How Old Are You?

If you’re under 25-30, or over 65, then you’re going to be paying more for your rental car.

The prices we’ve been quoting from Discover Cars are for renters between the ages of 30-65.

Again, different rental companies have different age thresholds, so it’s important to check that out as well. For example, Budget Car Rental’s best offers are for people aged 25+.

So if you’re under 30, this is definitely something to take into consideration.

5.6 Deductible

Finally, it’s important to keep in mind what the deductible (or excess) is on your rental car.

The deductible is the amount you pay up front if the car is damaged. Most car rental companies offer a deductible between 600-1500 dollars.

5.7 Who will be driving?

In many cases, adding an extra driver costs extra.

Sure, your girlfriend may have a license.

Maybe she’s an Indy Car driver. It won’t matter if someone T-bones you at an intersection.

If she’s not added as a driver, your insurance will be worthless. So if both of you plan on driving, it’s a safer bet to add her as an extra driver. Again, the cost of adding an extra driver varies depending on location.

Renting a Car can be easy

5.8 Debit/Credit

As I’ve learned the hard way, certain companies/locations don’t accept debit cards.

But other companies/locations do.

Check out your specific situation to see what your options are. I used a debit card to rent a car in Turkey from Budget a few years ago. And they didn’t even ask for a deposit!

6. Other Things to Consider

We’ve looked at what can change based on location/company. Now how about some things for you personally to consider, regardless of location or company.

6.1 Fuel Efficiency

If you’ll be driving significant distances, definitely pay attention to the fuel efficiency of the car you choose. Most companies should list the MPG of each car they offer on their websites.

6.2 How Much Stuff Do You Have?

Or how many people will you be driving around with. Don’t get a mini car with barely enough space for two suitcases if there’s four of you with camping gear.

Most likely you won’t be renting a clowns car…

6.3 Terrain

If you plan on driving on some mountain roads, or bumpy dirt access roads in the middle of a national park somewhere, it may be a good idea to go with a large car or SUV.

Most rental companies won’t cover damage that they feel is due to poor road conditions or off-roading in general.

7. How NOT to rent a Car

I hope you are well prepared now for the question on how to rent a car in Europe. Or anywhere in the world, pretty much.

Here is a few things we want to mention on how to NOT rent a car. I may repeat myself.

  1. When the car is dirty and smelly, decline it. I was once renting a car that smelled like cigars and hard-core party elements. yeah, let’s put it that way. It was disgusting. In my naivety, I did not decline the car and regret every single second in that vehicle.
  2. Pay attention to the fuel policy. FULL to FULL is always the best option.
  3. Check Google Reviews of your car rental company. This can reveal some nasty secrets. For instance, in Cyprus we wanted to rent a car with a super cheap company. Turns out, that company is incredibly rude, cancels your reservation if you arrive later than 1 hour, and more. Reading these car rental comparison reviews was almost like reading a thriller…
  4. Do not try to fake your country of residence; it does not work.
  5. Do not drive in areas you are not supposed to. Off-Road is really not a good idea.
  6. Personally, we always take insurance. It adds an extra cost, but in case you need, you will be very very happy!
  7. Ask for simple upgrades. Sometimes you can get a free extra driver. Once in Ireland we were renting a car for two weeks. The lady asked if we want to add me as a second driver; only my girlfriend would be driving. We declined as we wanted to keep the cost down. At the end she added me as an extra driver for free. Why? With a smile on her face, she said: “I want your girlfriend to enjoy her vacation too.
  8. Always check the bumps and scratches. Take a video and photos and let the car rental agency know. Better safe than sorry.

A Small Car can be great; but not with a lot of luggage and people

8. How to rent a car online (With Discover Car Hire)

The car hiring process with Discover Cars is very simple and straightforward. I wanted to document it and explain my tricks so you can get the best deal any time.

1. Introduce the pick-up location and the dates.

Normally, if you want to deliver the car in a different location, there is a charge.

Introduce the pick up location

2. Select the car you want (I do normally order it by price so I can get the best deals before).

Tip: Have a look at the fuel policy and type the company name at google to read some reviews and feedback before deciding.

Choose your deal

3. Check all the details and go to secure payment to pay.

Check all the details

4. You will see a message like this. Discover car hire will check the availability with the partner and get back to you in a few minutes.

Wait for approval

5. Get your confirmation email.  Save your voucher and show it at the pick-up.

As you see, you receive the car rental supplier as well as the phone number just in case you need to contact them. Pretty straight forward, right?

Confirmation email

9. Summing up the Discover Car Hire Review

When it comes to renting a car, it is really important to understand how variable the prices are depending on where you’re renting the car.

Swipe Pages is a fairly new, yet powerful and promising addition to the landing page builder market. It was founded in 2020 as a software solution focused on “ROI driven marketers”.

Swipe Pages' home page

What does this mean?

If you’ve been looking for a good landing page builder and asking yourself if Swipe Pages fits this description and whether it would be a good choice for your particular business, this Swipe Pages review may be of help to you.

In this article, we’ll try to answer the question posed above and, along the way, we’ll explore some of the most important facets of Swipe Pages. So, let’s get to it.

First Things First

Before we dive into the specifics of Swipe Pages, we’ll clarify some of the concepts mentioned in the introduction in case their meaning is unclear.

ROI is short for return on investment. Basically, it’s a measure that gives us insight into the efficiency of our investment endeavors by comparing how much we invest to how much we get back in return.

ROI-driven marketers are focused on gaining new leads and customers at an optimal cost. Their marketing strategies are data-driven. They aim to invest time, energy, and money only into the most promising aspects that lead to profit. Thanks to data insights on different users and audiences—for instance, their preferences, their interactions with the landing page, their demographic characteristics, their age group, and more—ROI marketers can create a more personalized and efficient marketing approach that leads to higher conversion rates and, eventually, to more profit.

This implies that ROI-driven marketing is based on data science and software implementations of data science, as well as the application of artificial intelligence.

Swipe Pages Pricing

Pricing is always one of the aspects that’s of greatest interest to users, and rightfully so. Investing in a landing page builder can be a serious financial and time investment. Hence, it’s only natural to want to find out as much as possible about a company’s pricing system before making a decision.

Swipe Pages offers three pricing plans: Startup, Marketer, and Agency. There’s also a fully-featured 14-day free trial, and the beauty of it is that it doesn’t require a credit card.

Try Swipe Pages

The Startup Plan

Startup: $29/month (billed monthly) or $19/month (billed annually).

Some of the perks of this plan are:

    • Unlimited conversions and landing pages

The fact that there are no limitations on the number of landing pages you can create and conversions you can have gives you a lot of freedom.

    • Ability to connect a custom domain

With the Startup plan, you can have only 1 custom domain (with the other two plans Swipe Pages offers either 5 or an unlimited number of domains). However, Swipe Pages allows you to “add unlimited subdomains to a single root domain”.

AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages. A lightning-fast load time is one of their key features. They’re the result of joint work between Google and Twitter. The sole focus of this project is on creating an impeccable user experience. AMPs are especially important in light of the fact that, nowadays, the majority of people use their mobile phones to surf the internet.

For starters, Swipe Pages takes care of everything related to hosting, which is not a minor thing. On top of this, your landing page will have an added layer of security—an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate or, technically more precisely, a TLS (Transport Layer Security) certificate—that enables encrypted communication between different systems.

CDN is short for Content Delivery Network. The purpose of a CDN is to speed up the delivery of web content through geographically distributed servers, so a visitor sees the content served by the server that’s geographically closest to them.

    • Analytics and conversion tracking

Thanks to this feature, you’ll always have insight into important stats like page traffic and lead conversion.

This feature allows you to receive an email notification each time there’s a new sign-up on your site.

Opening a Stripe account is a prerequisite for creating checkouts. You just need to connect your Swipe Pages and Stripe accounts, and you’ll be able to sell products and receive payments from your landing pages.

Swipe Pages checkouts

Multi-step forms are forms that are split into multiple small parts. Long and cumbersome forms can easily drive visitors away from your page/site. The goal of a multi-step form is to avoid this by displaying the form in a more user-friendly format.

Zapier allows users to automate their marketing and makes available a ton of third-party integrations.

Even with the most basic Swipe Pages pricing plan, you get access to direct customer support, which makes everything easier.

The Marketer Plan

Marketer: $79/month (billed monthly) or $49/month (billed annually).

According to Swipe Pages, the Marketer plan is the most popular. It includes everything from the Startup plan, plus the following perks:

    • 5 client sub-accounts and 5 team members

You can work separately with different customers and collaborate with a team, whose members will get different permissions and access to the workspaces.

This is a great and very useful feature. It allows you to build two or more versions of a landing page, test them out, and see which one performs better in terms of lead conversion.

Instead of the 20K unique visitors you get with the Startup plan, with the Marketer plan you can have up to 50K to your site. It’s not quite as many as the Agency plan offers, 500K unique visitors, but it’s a pretty good number, nonetheless.

The Agency Plan

Agency: $149/month (billed monthly) or $99/month (billed annually).

Clearly, the Agency plan may be over budget for many users, but it’s geared toward agency owners, so it’s kind of expected to be in a higher price range.

The greatest features of this pricing plan are:

    • Unlimited client sub-accounts and team members

Considering who the target audience of this plan is, it’s only natural to see something like this as part of it.

    • Special 30 minute consultation and one-on-one onboarding

This means that you’ll get special help from Swipe Pages experts, who’ll guide you through the onboarding process, help you optimize your pages, and build your initial marketing campaign.

Creating a Landing Page

Creating your first landing page in Swipe Pages is a straightforward and uncomplicated process.

First, you need to give your page a name and choose whether it will be a standard responsive landing page or an AMP page. An AMP page is primarily mobile-oriented, although it can load normally on a desktop device as well. Yet, for certain technical reasons with practical consequences, they’re not recommended if you expect mostly traffic coming from desktop devices.

Swipe Pages landing page types

The next step is selecting a template. There are over 40 great designs to choose from. You can search the templates based on industry or other parameters and preview each before picking the one that meets your requirements. In addition to this, you can start from scratch and build a landing page from a completely blank page.

Swipe Pages templates

This is roughly what you’ll see after choosing a template:

Swipe Pages template

From here, you can add sections, rows, and columns, and edit the existing modules by double-clicking them. You can also adjust the buttons, text, headings, etc. Additionally, Swipe Pages lets you rearrange modules, using the drag-and-drop method, so you can place a section lower on the page or, say, move a row higher than where it was originally located.

As you’re making changes, you can check how your page will look on four different types of devices: desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile phone. On top of this, Swipe Pages allows you to see what you’re building in the browser.

One great option that Swipe Pages offers is to add one or more variants to the existing version of the landing page. You can either build a new variant from scratch or copy and then modify the original page. One more thing you should do to get the most out of your Swipe Pages landing page is to split traffic in half or use different proportions. For instance, if you use two variants and set the proportions to 60/40 in favor of variant A, then 60 out of 100 visitors will see this version, while the other 40 will see and interact with variant B. Splitting traffic like this allows you to A/B test different design elements & see which performs better with your audience.

Adding new elements is very easy. You just click the modules button, the second in the upper left corner, select the element you want to add, then drag and drop it to where you intended.

Swipe Pages drag and drop elements

Additionally, you can add popups, checkouts, cookie notices, tracking codes, new colors, custom CSS and JavaScript, tinker with SEO, and more.

Even if you don’t want to touch the code, Swipe Pages offers more than enough customization options. We already mentioned one way of editing. Alternatively, you can click on the part of the page you want to edit, and the page builder will show you all the available options.

Swipe Pages page builder editor

All in all, the Swipe Pages dashboard is well-ordered and anything but cumbersome. The page builder/editor is elegant, intuitive, and works smoothly. It gives ample opportunity to give your landing pages the look, feel, and functionalities you want.

Integrations

Swipe Pages doesn’t offer many third-party integrations, but those that are available are some of the most notable names on the market:

Swipe Pages integrations

Mailchimp (marketing automation and email marketing), HubSpot (CRM, sales & marketing, and customer service), ConvertKit (email marketing and automation), and ActiveCampaign (email marketing, automation, and CRM) are probably the most popular in this group.

In addition to the thirteen integrations from the image above, Swipe Pages allows you to add Integromat and Zapier (already mentioned) too. They both allow users to connect to a myriad of other apps, so in a way, thanks to these two, you get access to thousands more third-party apps.

But, the list of possible integrations is even larger than what you can add through the Swipe Pages dashboard. For instance, Swipe Pages lacks a blog, and none of the apps that we saw offer blogging functionality. Luckily, DropInBlog comes to the rescue. It’s a specialized top-notch blogging tool that allows you to create a blog on Swipe Pages quickly and in a very simple way. Just follow the link we provided to learn more about this software and the integration method.

Customer Support

We already saw that Swipe Pages offers direct support via email and chat, and some sort of phone assistance for the Agency plan subscribers. In addition to this, there’s extensive documentation, where users can learn about various facets of the software and find answers to their concerns.

Swipe Pages customer support

Customer review sites like Capterra and G2 indicate that the overall customer impressions with respect to the Swipe Pages’ customer service are highly favorable. It’s referred to with words like great, outstanding, quick, responsive, fast, amazing, and similar.

Final Thoughts

In this Swipe Pages review, we went over some key aspects of this landing page builder. Based on our experience and other customers’ reviews, we can freely say that Swipe Pages offers a high quantity of high-quality stuff. It doesn’t matter whether it is aesthetics or functionality or robustness that you’re looking for, you’ll find it in Swipe Pages. It’s an excellent and promising software, and it’s definitely worth your consideration.
